Heavenly Swordis a PlayStation exclusive that can only be played on the PS3, seeing as howHeavenly Swordis not available on PS Plus. Even so, fans are hoping that Sony will go above and beyond for a comeback to this forgottenPS3game.
Heavenly Swordis a hack and slash PlayStation exclusive that was developed by Ninja Theory and released in 2007. AlthoughNinja Theory is now an Xbox studio, PlayStation still owns the intellectual property rights toHeavenly Sword, so if the company wanted to remaster the game then it would have the ability to do so. This is exactly what fans are hoping for, as the game and many others on the PS3 would benefit from the remake treatment.Heavenly Swordis a PS3 game without trophy support, so it would be even more beneficial for it to receive a possible remaster.

Heavenly Swordfans argue that the game is underrated, and deserves a remaster or sequel. It had potential to kickstart a franchise for PlayStation, similar toGod of War, as it showcased actor Andy Serkis as the villain and quickly gained a fan base among players. The reception was positive, despite the game’s short length, and even sold over one million copies. Reports suggest that theHeavenly Swordsequel would have been open worldwith interactive environments.
Future releases were reported to be in development, althoughSony canceled theHeavenly Swordsequelbecause the company did not see an opportunity for financial gain. Even so, Sony could dust off the shelf for aHeavenly Swordsequel, as assets for the canceled game have already been worked on. A remaster would also be an opportunity for Sony to dip back into its exclusive IPs for future releases.
PS3 is not native to PlayStation’s subscription service, which may further incentivize fans to be protective over the PS3 library, andHeavenly Swordis also one of the rare PlayStation exclusives that has not received a remaster or sequel, so it is understandable why players are hoping that the company will remember this once popular game. Fortunately,Heavenly Swordis still available for a reasonable price, but there is no telling how much longer that will last as PS3 games may become lost to time if Sony does not prioritize its classic library of games with what PlayStation Plus has to offer.
