Previous leaks and arecent Steam updatestrongly suggested that the game would be coming to PC though no formal announcement had been made. That changed at yesterday’s premiere of The Game Awards 2022 in whichReturnalwas formally announced for PC with a new trailer showcasing the game’s fast-paced combat. Though the trailer did not show a release date, the description of the trailer on YouTube states the game will come to PC early 2023.

Returnalwas not the only PlayStation exclusive to be announced for PC at The Game Awards 2022. Later on in the show, thePC port ofThe Last of Us Part 1was announced to be launching on August 02, 2025. Although there is still some ambiguity on whenReturnalwill release for PC, it can be inferred that it will likely be spaced out fromTheLast of Us Part 1as previous PlayStation PC ports have generally launched in separate months from each other.

Over the past few years, PlayStation exclusives have continuously been ported to PC, but some experienced far more success than others.Sackboy: A Big Adventurereleased on PCthis past October, but performed significantly worse with player counts in the hundreds compared toGod of Warwhich had tens of thousands of players on PC. Inferences can be made on why this disparity in player counts happened, but it does call into question just how well a game likeReturnalwill do on PC. Only time will tell on whether the latest title from Housemarque will reach the chart-topping numbers of past PlayStation exclusives.

Returnalis available now for PS5 and will launch for PC in early 2023.
