The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions have similarly large storage requirements, taking 147.577 GB and 139.08 GB of space respectively. On the other hand,Star Wars Jedi: Survivorreportedly needs just 44 GB on Xbox Series S, marking a difference of almost 100 GB between it and the Xbox Series X version. Now, it looks like the physical version ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivorwill also require users to download some amount of data.

A Reddit user named NightwingXII has shared an image of physical copies ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivoron PS5 and Xbox Series X, with the words “Download Required” written in the bottom left. The source of this image appears to be Mighty Ape, a company in New Zealand, and fans can also see boxes ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivorin the background. At the time of this writing, the amount of data users will need to download is unclear, so fans will have to wait for more information to come out around launch day.
Still, it looks like gamers who were hoping to avoid the massive download by purchasing a physical copy ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivormay be out of luck. Players who do end uppre-ordering the digital version ofStar Wars Jedi: Survivorcan pre-load the game before it comes out, allowing them to play at midnight local time on PS5 or Xbox Series X.
Some users in the comments section state thatmost video games have a day-one patch, claiming it to be the same as this download. However, as pointed out by other players, it’s possible to launch a game without the day-one patch installed, which doesn’t seem to be true in this case. These day-one patches usually fix additional bugs and improve the overall performance, but they are ultimately optional for offline titles, as it seems likeStar Wars Jedi: Survivorwill require players to download a chunk of the game before they can start playing.
