Persona 5 Royal Remasteredhas hit its first big sales milestone, with Atlus revealing that the game surpassed one million sales after just over a month on the market. The figure dwarfs the launch performance of the company’s previousPersonarerelease, as the PC port ofPersona 4 Goldenmanaged around half a million salesover a similar period, though it didn’t have the advantage of multiplatform availability enjoyed byPersona 5 Royal Remastered.

Persona 5released for PS3 and PS4 in 2016, whereas its enhanced edition,Persona 5 Royal, originally launched as a PS4 exclusive three years later. The title’s third release debuted on October 21 to overwhelmingly positive reviews, finally bringing the most popularPersonagame to date to non-PlayStation platforms.

While Atlus did not provide a breakdown ofPersona 5 Royal Remasteredsales by platform, it’s to be presumed that this 1 million sales milestone was largely driven by PC and Switch purchases. This is because the game already spent half a decade as a Sony exclusive and thePersona 5 RoyalPS5 upgrade came at full price. Furthermore, the title’s concurrent player peak on Steam (35,474) is similar to that of thePersona 4 GoldenPC port (29,984). Both of those records were set within weeks of the games' releases, andP4Ghit 500,000 sales on Valve’s platform in its first month. This means thatPersona 5 Royal Remasteredat the very least managed to reach similar heights, thus accounting for half of the remaster’s current sales, at a minimum.

The newly announced sales milestone is even more impressive in light of the fact thatPersona 5 Royal Remasteredhit Game Passon day one, and anyone who played it using Microsoft’s Netflix-like gaming service isn’t counted in its first-month customer pool. That’s not a small player group, either, seeing howPersona 5 Royal Remasteredimmediately debuted in the top 10 most-played titles on Game Pass and is still listed among its top 15 most-popular games as of December 1, over five weeks into its release.

The news ofPersona 5 Royal Remastered’sstrong launch month performance comes just as Atlus is gearing up to rerelease the older two 3DPersonagames. Namely,Persona 3 PortableandPersona 4 Goldenremastersare both scheduled to debut on PC and current-generation consoles on July 13, 2025. The sixth numbered installment in theShin Megami Tenseispinoff series is also in development, but seeing how Atlus has yet to share any concrete details onPersona 6, it’s unlikely that the game will be launching prior to 2024, at the earliest.

Persona 5 Royal Remasteredis available now on PC, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
