Summary

Overwatch 2has really ramped up its content updates in recent months, with crossover events becoming a defining element of its post-launch content delivery. The game recently had success with aDiablocrossover that tied into the sinister themes of Season 7, and fans already have another crossover event that is well underway.

This new crossover forOverwatch 2concerns the popular K-pop group LE SSERAFIM, being a huge thematic departure from the recentDiablo-inspired event. While this crossover took a lot of fans by surprise, the level of content that it involves is seriously impressive, putting a lot of past events to shame. Going forward, the LE SSERAFIM crossover needs to be the gold standard forOverwatch 2, with future events hopefully adopting the same breadth of content and accessibility of attractive rewards.

Overwatch 2’s LE SSERAFIM Crossover Event: Content Variety and Great Rewards

Overwatch 2’s LE SSERAFIM crossover eventis set to last until November 20, meaning fans have plenty of time to explore its wide range of content. The main limited time game mode within the LE SSERAFIM event is called Concert Clash, and sees two teams of three players face off against each other to secure tickets to a concert headlined by the K-pop stars.

Like many limited-time game modes, Concert Clash gives players the choice between the following five heroes, who have all been re-skinned with K-pop styled looks:

This game mode also incorporates PvE elements, with the AI-controlled Fawksy James Junkrat giving both teams a difficult time while they compete to collect 25 concert tickets and be crowned victorious. Away from limited in-game experiences, the LE SSERAFIM event comes with five unique bundles thatplayers can purchase from theOverwatch 2store. These bundles are for each of the previously listed heroes, giving players access to their LE SSERAFIM skin, as well as weapon skins, charms, emotes, and poses for a given character.

These bundles are all available individually for 2500 coins, and 6800 for the complete collection, but the event still provides players the chance to earn an attractive reward for free. By consistently completing a new range of challenges relating to the LE SSERAFIM event, players can earnthe free Legendary Fawksy James skin for Junkrat, as well as a staggering 35,000 Battle Pass XP.

Though the full bundle is very expensive, Blizzard has softened the blow by giving fans more coins for the $50 and $100 bundles, and that extra value would be nice to see in similarly expensive events.

This is a huge step-up frommany pastOverwatch 2crossover events, with six heroes getting a lot of cosmetic attention around a recognizable and vibrant theme. Combined with an ambitious limited-time game mode that smartly blends PvP and PvE in an intimate setting, the LE SSERAFIM event covers a lot of bases that deserve to be applauded. The hype around the event was bolstered by the surprise-release of a cinematic which sawOverwatch 2’s heroes racing to a concert, further showcasing the level of care and attention that Blizzard has put into the event.

Ultimately, the LE SSERAFIM event forOverwatch 2showcases just how engaging crossovers can be for the title. The build up and execution of the event via cinematics, gameplay experiences, a huge range of cosmetic content, and freely accessible rewards should be the level thatall futureOverwatch 2eventsshould strive for. The fact that this level of content comes from such a comparatively small in-game event is even more impressive, and future crossovers with large IPs should be striving to exceed the experiences that LE SSERAFIM’s event has provided.
