Kiriko quickly became a beloved member ofOverwatch 2’s diverse hero roster since she arrived with the sequel’s launch, though more recent seasons have seen her Swift Step ability become increasingly bugged to the point where it can seriously interfere with typical gameplay. Though not the newest hero to arrive inOverwatch 2, more recent additions to the character cast have brought abilities that have given rise to various problematic bugs.

As a support hero, Kiriko is equipped with a number of items and abilities that specialize in safeguarding allied players during combat, though she’s also armed with some pretty lethal kunai that can prove highly effective in the hands of skilled players. Along with her ability to temporarily make allies invulnerable to damage,Kiriko is capable of teleporting to teammateseither to deliver urgently-needed healing or simply to escape from a tough situation. Kiriko’s kit generally seemed pretty solid throughout the game’s early months, but more recent seasons have seen a number of new bugs affecting her Swift Step ability in particular.

Oddly enough, official patch notes forOverwatch 2’s Season 4 updateback in April claimed to have fixed some issues which prevented Kiriko from teleporting correctly in certain circumstances. Problems with the Swift Step ability only seem to have become more commonplace since then, though, with one Reddit user known as Saumfar highlighting a related bug in a post that swiftly gained popularity on the site. This clip puts the spotlight on how inaccurate the teleportation effect often ends up being, with the Kiriko player only traveling about half the distance to the intended target.

Unfortunately though, the rabbit hole goes a lot deeper when it comes to the bugs associated with Kiriko’s Swift Step ability. Many other members of theOverwatch 2community have compiled videos featuring some of the issues they’ve discovered with the ability, while also successfully replicating these bugs in-game. These documentations involve instances of the teleportation effect failing when used on any type of moving platform, or even causing Kiriko to be placed a few meters back from her current location. On top of that, Swift Step can even place Kiriko out of map bounds when synergized withLifeweaver’s Petal Platform ability, which can allow Kiriko players to permanently contest objective points on certain maps.

Overwatch 2has experienced quite a range of bugssince its launch late last year, some of which have affected the game so severely that certain heroes had to be completely removed for a while. Balancing the increasing number of heroes and addressing the bugs associated with their abilities must surely provide enough of a challenge in itself, but Blizzard’s controversial decision to scrap much of the game’s dedicated PvE content leads many fans to expect a higher level of quality on the PvP front in the future.

Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
