The firstDying Lightgame launched in January 2015, offering zombie fans a new experience by allowing them to parkour around their flesh-eating enemies as well as chopping or shooting them to their second death in the usual manner. The game was well-received, and created a lot of anticipation for its 2022 sequelDying Light 2. With the release of the second game, fans assumed that developer Techland would have moved on from the firstDying Light. However, recent news has proven otherwise.

Techland just launchedDying Light’s"Dieselpunk" downloadable content gives fans the chance to go back in time and get their hands on some steampunk gear. There are digital watches, a new chainsaw, and the serrated “Flesh Ripper” sword among plenty of other bits of gear. Some fans were shocked at the announcement of the Dieselpunk pack, as they weren’t expecting a piece of DLC for a seven-year-old game. However, fans paying attention to Techland’s statements may have expected this after thecompany said in 2021 that it wasn’t done withDying LightDLCsyet.

Thelatest DLC forDying Lightbefore the Dieselpunk pack was the “Hellraid” DLC. Unlike the Dieselpunk pack, which is more of a collection of cosmetics than anything else, Hellraid offered a decent expansion based around another game Techland was developing with the same name. This DLC transformed the zombies into skeletons and mythical beasts such as minotaurs, giving the game more of a fantasy atmosphere.

The announcement of the Dieselpunk pack was accompanied by a short trailer showing off the destructive power of the new weapons and vehicle. It also showed some comedic steampunk elements, such as a zombie running on a hamster wheel to generate power. While fans await theDying Light 2DLCs, they may want to return to the original zombie parkour experience for this new Dieselpunk pack, which marks the last ofDying Light’sDLCs.

So far,Dying Light 2hasn’t had any major DLC released, outside of cosmetic packs. However, the game has received multiple big patches, with the most recent major patch introducing a New Game Plus mode and a new quest. DLC will come toDying Light 2, according to Techland. The developer has also stated that theDLC will run parallel to the main story ofDying Light 2, leading some to believe that it could explain the mysterious disappearance of the first game’s protagonist Kyle Crane.

Dying Lightis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
