One Piece fans have been having a lot of fun in the last few weeks. Both the anime and manga have been releasing high-quality content that has left the audience wanting more. While the anime is focused on Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation, the manga is much further ahead, delving intothe events of Egghead Island.
For several months, Oda has turned the story’s focus away from the Straw Hats and toward other places in theOne Pieceworld. The manga revealed the demolition of the Heart Pirates and the Kid Pirates at the hands of Blackbeard and Shanks, respectively. InOne PieceChapter 1089, the story finally made its way back to Vegapunk’s island, but before that, Oda revealed the repercussions of Lulusia’s destruction.

Why Was Lulusia Kingdom Destroyed
There were many reasons that led to the country’s decimation. The kingdom of Lulusia suffered from a rebellion. The common people had grown tired of the royal family mistreating them. On top of that, they had beenmotivated by the Revolutionary Army’sexploits. Another factor was Sabo’s presence in the country. After he was wounded in Marijoa, he managed to sneak aboard the ship that was bound for Lulusia Kingdom. Upon his arrival, Sabo was treated like a hero by the people.
After his wounds had healed, Sabo left the country along with some recruits for the Revolutionary Army. He decided to call Dragon and update him on his current whereabouts. Sabo’s call was intercepted by the Marines, who managed to pinpoint his location. However, the main reason was Imu’s childish insistence on using the Mother Flame. The supreme ruler of the World Government wanted to test out the weapon’s power, which had been created by Dr. Vegapunk. York, one of the scientist’s satellites, had sent it to the Five Elders without letting anyone know. All these reasons led to the destruction of the Lulusia Kingdom.
The Aftermath
The enormous power of the Mother Flame erased every single trace of the Lulusia Kingdom. However, the disappearance of the kingdom had far-reaching effects. It led to thecreation of a massive holein the sea, just like the one in Enies Lobby. The water around the place continued to fall into the hole, and no passerby would have figured that a country existed there.

Using the Mother Flame caused a strong earthquake, which increased the water levels around the world. It was confirmed to be a one-meter rise, which resulted in the loss of multiple beaches and led to many people losing their homes. Clearly, the World Government does not care if people die or incur losses. The higher-ups only want to protect their secrets so that the organization stands firm until the end.
Mother Flame
The annihilation of Lulusia Kingdomwas caused by the Mother Flame, a weapon created by Dr. Vegapunk. Prior to this reveal, most fans believed that the World Government used one of the Ancient Weapons, namely Uranus, to destroy the island. It was later disclosed that the weapon belonged to the scientist, who probably kept its existence hidden from the World Government because he was aware it would be used to wreak havoc throughout the world. However, York decided to use the Mother Flame to strike a deal with the World Government. Imu in particular was impressed by its power, and they wanted to get their hands on it.
The weapon seems to be powered by an energy source that is produced on Egghead Island. Considering Mother Flame’s power, it is obvious that such a weapon would require an enormous amount of energy. This would explain why the World Government does not want to destroy Egghead Island, as it would mean losing access to one of the strongest weapons in the world.
The Struggle To Take Control
The Mother Flame’s power is no joke, and fans have already seen the damage it can cause. Ifthe World Government gainsfull control over it, it will be much easier for the group to get rid of the so-called insects. If the Five Elders manage to locate the Revolutionary Army, they can simply demolish the entire country with the Mother Flame. No one would be able to question the authority of the World Government, and anyone foolish enough to do so would suffer the same fate as the people of Lulusia.
The Revolutionary Army knows about the existence of the weapon, so they are wary of its threat. Early in the Egghead arc, Shaka, one of Vegapunk’s satellites, talked to Dragon, but the details of their conversation have not been made public. It is possible that Shaka told the Revolutionary Army leader how to counter the Mother Flame. It could have also been a simple warning to Dragon, telling him to be careful.
After being rescued by the Straw Hats, Vegapunk and the rest of the satellites will want to leave Egghead Island, but they will have to do something about the factory. They cannot rely on Sentomaru to do everything, so the Straw Hats might have to destroy it. There is a chance that one of the satellites might take up the responsibility and sacrifice themselves for the bigger cause, as letting the World Government get its hands on the Mother Flame will be too dangerous.
