Although Bungie has slowly started to pull back the veil of secrecy aroundDestiny 2’supcoming Beyond Light expansion, there are still plenty of details about the DLC that players won’t know until the content goes live. Even so, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about how best to approach the new content and also how some existing parts ofDestiny 2could change in Beyond Light.

One theory amongDestiny 2players in the community is that the Osmosis weapon perk could become very useful in Beyond Light, if it continues to work as advertised. Currently, Osmosis gives any Kinetic weapon the element of the player’s subclass once they use a grenade. The elemental buff remains until the player stows the weapon.

Normally, the perk is useful for giving players a well-rounded arsenal and the option to carry a third elemental weapon for breaking shields. However, withDestiny 2: Beyond Light introducing afourth subclass called Stasisinto the fold, it could have even bigger implications.

Bungie has yet to confirm anything, but players are speculating that Osmosis could be a game-changer of a perk if it can give Kinetic weapons the Stasis “element.” Stasis is the new subclass that each class will have access to and it functions a lot like ice, freezing enemies in place or opening them up to damage.

But while Bungie has done well to detail theStasis subclasses coming inDestiny 2: Beyond Light, the developers have not said whether Stasis will also be an element for weapons. Considering the type of clutter that might cause from a UI or Vault space perspective, it’s possible that Bungie will keep the element in the subclass category, but there still might be a way to give some weapons Stasis “powers.”

Again, this is only assuming that Osmosis will work with Stasis, which no one knows to be the case just yet. It’s very possible that Bungie simply won’t allow Osmosis to work with Stasis and therefore the perk will be pointless. But on the off chance that Stasis does work, it’s worth holding on to someKinetic weaponsthat can have Stasis like the Escape Velocity SMG.

Perhaps Bungie might offer some clarity on the situation in a futureDestiny 2weekly blog post. The developer did say that it plans toaddress weapon tuning and balance in a future discussion, and so the devs might say whether Osmosis will work with Stasis. Players also hope to see some weapon archetypes buffed/nerfed as a well, but that’s a larger discussion.
