Summary

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zerois on track to break all kinds of records with its expansive roster, with reports suggesting that it will include up to 164 unique fighters. With this number of playable characters,Sparking Zeromay even surpassBudokai Tenkaichi 3’s absolute behemoth of a roster - which is an incredible feat to accomplish.

Butconsidering how many brand-new characters were introduced inDragon Ball Super, it’s no surprise thatSparking Zero’s roster is set to be this large. This roster size will likely be big enough to include every canon character and transformation from the show. However, many non-canon transformations would also make perfect additions, as fans have been eagerly waiting to see them for a long time.Sparking Zeropresents the perfect opportunity to introduce these forms and fulfill the fan’s wishes.

Goku, in his False Super Saiyan form, stopping Lord Slug’s punch with one hand

1False Super Saiyan

The Frightening Precursor To Super Saiyan

The False Super Saiyan transformation is one of Goku’s lesser-known forms, making its only appearance in a movie called “Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug.“This movie failed to gain any considerable traction among theDragon Ballfanbase, so the False Super Saiyan transformation flew under the radar for decades. However, this non-canon form has been seeing a boom in popularity recently, with fans finally realizing how incredibly unique and stylish this transformation really is.

The False Super Saiyan form has arguably the most distinctive look amongall the Super Saiyan transformations, aside from Super Saiyan 4. When Goku transforms into this state, he acquires the classic golden Super Saiyan aura while retaining his natural black hair. This is coupled with his pupils disappearing, giving Goku one of his most intimidating looks ever. SinceSparking Zero’s roster is already confirmed to have 10 different forms of Goku, the False Super Saiyan form would fit right in with the rest.

Golden Frieza and Golden Cooler from Super Dragon Ball Heroes

2Golden Cooler

Cooler’s Long-Awaited Power Up

Ever since the release of Cooler’s Revenge back in 1991, Cooler has cultivated a cult following within theDragon Ballcommunity. Despite his non-canon status, fans widely regard Cooler as one ofthe most menacing villains to ever be shown inDragon Ball. And this hardly comes as a surprise, considering Cooler’s iconic feats, such as effortlessly swimming through a Kamehameha to deliver a punch to Goku’s chin.

Although Cooler has appeared in almost every singleDragon Ballgame, including theBudokai Tenkaichiseries, he was never given any sort of power up beyond his Metal Cooler form. Meanwhile, Frieza (his brother) achieved his Golden form years ago, leaving Cooler in the dust.

DBFZ DLC Bardock about to use his Revenge Assault

But then came along a promotional anime calledDragon Ball Heroes, which introduced fans to several non-canon transformations. Among the many awesome forms shown in the show, a major highlight was Golden Cooler. While the form is completely non-canon, fans were thrilled to see Cooler finally get his much-needed power up. Given Cooler’s undying popularity, Golden Cooler would make a great addition toSparking Zero,as this non-canon form would allow him to be on par with the immensely powerful characters fromDragon Ball Super.

3Super Saiyan Bardock

An Alternate Take On Bardock’s Story

Bardock may not have had much screen time in the show, but he’s undeniably one of the most important characters in the series. After all, he’s the one responsible for sending Goku on his journey to Earth, essentially shaping the entire story ofDragon Ballas it’s known today.

InDragon Ball’scanonical story, Bardock has never gone beyond his base form. However, in 2011,a non-canon TV Specialnamed “Episode of Bardock"aired, giving an interesting twist to Bardock’s story. In its what-if story, this TV Special finally gave Bardock the respect he deserves by depicting him transforming into a Super Saiyan against one of Frieza’s ancestors.

Super Saiyan 4 Vegito from Super Dragon Ball Heroes

Given Bardock’s pivotal role inDragon Ball’sstory, including his non-canon Super Saiyan form inSparking Zero, would be an awesome way to pay homage to the character.

4Super Saiyan 4 Vegito

Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta’s Potara Counterpart

Vegito iscanonically regarded as the perfect warriorinDragon Ball. This fusion shatters all limits, bringing a level of power that can only be rivaled by the gods. Vegito has made appearances in bothDragon Ball ZandSuper, but unfortunately, fans didn’t get to see him at all inDragon Ball GT- let alone see him as a Super Saiyan 4. This was quite hurtful for Vegito fans, as his counterpart, Gogeta, got to enjoy all the glory of being a Super Saiyan 4 inGT.

Luckily,Dragon Ball Heroes, the literal personification of fan service, finally gave Vegito fans what they desired. In one of the episodes of this non-canon show, Vegito was depicted as a Super Saiyan 4, having red fur, black hair, and an incredibly cool outfit. This non-canon form of Vegito would fit perfectly intoSparking Zero’s roster, alongside Super Saiyan 4 Gogeta and the rest of theGTcharacters.

Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta from Dragon Ball Heroes

5Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta

A Non-Canon Form That Has A Fanbase Of Its Own

It’s impossible to discuss non-cannon transformations without mentioning Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta. The Super Saiyan 3 form was introduced decades ago in the Buu Saga, yet it’s remained elusive for Vegeta ever since, despite beingachieved by his partner in crime, Goku, and even Gotenks.

This non-canon form has only ever appeared in oneDragon Ballgame,Raging Blast 2.Fans have been eagerly awaiting its return ever since, but haven’t been able to catch a glimpse of it again in any game.Sparking Zeropresents the perfect time to finally introduce this form to theBudokai Tenkaichifranchise. With a roster already boasting thirteen unique forms of Vegeta, the inclusion of this transformation would be seamless.
