Nightingaleis a game that a lot of people have been eagerly awaiting ever since it was first shown in the 2021 Game Awards. It’s a PvE Survival game in which players are quite literally dropped into the middle of the fantastical Faewilds and must hop between all sorts of different realms to build a life for themselves and survive all in the hopes of eventually reaching the city of Nightingale itself.
And, considering this world takes place in an alternate version of the Victorian era of history, fashion is a big part of it. Collecting different threads, whether for the bonus stats they provide or for their visuals, is worth doing inNightingale, so let’s look at how players can get a lot of extra threads from NPCs in particular
How To Get NPC Companions
It’s Pretty Simple, Actually
Typically found near Essence Traders, players can stumble across different NPCs inNightingalethat can actually join their metaphorical ‘party’.These NPCs will typically ask you to do something for them first, which usually just means providing the materials to complete some sort of ‘structure’ the NPC is working on, be it a few beds or even a campfire. After doing this and talking to the NPC again, you should be able to then ‘recruit’ that NPCto come along and follow you around to complete all sorts of different tasks.
Keep in mind, however, that these followers don’t really have any personality to them like, say, the followers inFalloutgames do, so there’s not much characterization to be found here.
In reality, these NPCs inNightingalemuch closer to Pals inPalworldthan they are to Companions in something likeFallout 4. Now,once you’ve Recruited an NPC on as a follower, you should then be able to talk to said NPC and access their inventory at any time. Also worth noting that you can also dismiss recruited NPCs in case you don’t want an AI follower oryou’d rather your co-op companionhad the NPC following them instead.

How To Go About Getting New Clothes
After you have your brand new NPC follower and have accessed their, you can then either right-click on the NPC’s clothes and select ‘Transfer’ to put them into your own inventory, or you can simply click, hold, and drag the clothing items into your own inventory to take them that way.
And for those who don’t want to gain what they feel to be an ‘unfair advantage’ by having NPC helpers, you’re able to still just quickly recruit the NPC, take their cool threads, and immediately dismiss them. Also remember that by accessing their inventory, you can also choose what tool the NPC has equipped (which will determine what they’ll do on autopilot when not immediately assisting you), you can store heavy items here to help carry things around, and you can equip them in new armor if you so choose.
