Bethesda and Arkane Studios release a new trailer for the upcoming co-op shooterRedfall, this time focusing on some of the more horrifying elements on the game. Since its debut,Redfallhas been compared toLeft 4 Deadas its approach to gameplay and co-op feels incredibly similar, as players must face off with waves of undead enemies. There have been several “Left 4 Dead-like” games lately, butRedfallmay stand out the most.

Back 4 Bloodwas made by the originalLeft 4 Deadstudio, and it focused on zombies.Aliens: Fireteam Elitetook that formula and applied it to the franchise’s Xenomorphs. AndRedfallis another title taking that formula in a new direction: vampires. And this latest trailer shows it’s not all firefights and struggles for survival, but an incredibly eerie setting and horror game-like moments built on top of that.

This newRedfall"Into the Night" trailer shows what appears to be some form of autumn festival, fitting for the current season, and it shows how realistic thesetting of Redfall, Massachusettsis. Fans are able to breathe in this setting like a cold day of fall, but the trailer does a good job of making these vampires seem genuinely terrifying. It shows a player, for example, walking through a house to find a floating vampire, as the lights begin to flicker, and it moves in quickly for an attack. The trailer also shows giant beating hearts that likely serve as some form of vampire base, creatures slowly walking out of doorways, and blood-splattered walls to bring out the most of the night.

There is more action packed into the latter portions of the trailer, but not near as much ofRedfall’s gameplay as seen in previous trailers. However, if this trailer accomplishes anything, it’s showing how Arkane is balancing the action of a co-op shooter with the supernatural horror associated with vampires. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t reveal a new release date, but it does reiterate its 2023 release window.

Because it is a co-op shooter, players will have a choice as to who they play throughout the campaign. Not as much has been shown yet, but each of the followingRedfallcharactersdo seem rather interesting: cryptozoologist Devinder Crouseley, telekinetic Layla Ellison, combat engineer Remi de la Rosa, and supernatural sharpshooter Jacob Boye.

Redfallreleases in 2023 for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
