The Straw Hat Piratesare the core ofOne Pieceand this is especially true for the five members who joined Luffy on his journey to find theOne Piecein the East Blue. Referred to as the East Blue Five, these five characters are going to be central to the first season of Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action adaptation.

The Straw Hats At Fish-Man Island

Netflix recently released a teaser trailer for theOne Piece Live Action seriesand it is safe to say that fans are optimistic about what’s to come. The Straw Hats are going to be setting sail soon, however, it must be remembered that the Straw Hats that the fans will see in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action seriesare going to be slightly different from what they are used to seeing in the anime and the manga.

5Older Straw Hats

One of the most obvious changes that fans will see in Netflix’s version ofOne Pieceisthat the Straw Hatsare going to be older than what fans are used to seeing in the anime and the manga. All members of the East Blue Five appear to be much younger when compared to their live-action counterparts, however, that is only expected. While the character designs and appearances can be exaggerated in manga and anime, that is impossible to achieve with a live-action adaptation.

Netflix’sOne Piece Live Actionadaptation will either alter the ages of the character or, fans will see them significantly change in appearance as they grow older and filming takes up more time. Fans should fully expect this to happen, however, this doesn’t have to be a bad change. It must be remembered that Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action adaptationis going to differ from the manga and the anime in some ways and that is perfectly normal.

4More Mature

Fans should also expect Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action seriesto be more mature. While humor is at the core ofOne Piece, the characters will certainly act more maturethan in the manga and the anime. This is primarily down to the fact that the One Piece manga is aimed at kids. Of course, that doesn’t mean adults can’t enjoy them, however, in Oda’s own words, he draws One Piece for young kids to enjoy and learn from.

One Piece Live Action Outfits

One Piece Live Action is going to be different in the sense that it is going to be watched by a more mature audience and, for that reason, these characters are going to act a bit more mature while maintaining their original personalities. Of course, there’s going to be a lot of humor in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Actionadaptation as well and that is certainly something that fans should be looking forward to.

3Different Outfits

A genius change brought about in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Actionadaptation is the outfits of the Straw Hat Pirates. In the manga and the anime, the Straw Hat Pirates barely change outfits in the East Blue Saga. While this was rectified by Oda later down the line, in the East Blue, their outfit choices were rather boring.

Netflix’s One Piece Live Action series sees to it that the Straw Hats stay fresh with each passing episode as they get different outfits. These outfits are not simply random pics, however. They have been taken from volume covers and color spreads that Oda has drawn himself. That means all these outfits are actually canon and the fact that they are going to feature in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action seriesmakes the fans all the more excited.

2Minor Changes To Physical Appearances

Fans should expect the Straw Hat Pirates to be slightly different, appearance-wise, in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action series. This is because some aspects of character design simply do not translate well to live action. For instance, Usopp’s long nose would be rather weird in the live-action adaptation ofOne Piece.Similarly, Sanji’s swirly eyebrows have been left outand he has normal eyebrows instead.

While Luffy’s appearance is pretty much the same, his character design sees him wear shoes instead of sandals which is prevent injuries to the actor, Inaki. These changes are to be expected inOne Piece Live Actionas a 1:1 adaptation would simply not be fun and result in some bizarre choices later down the line.

1Different Introductions

The Straw Hat Pirates might be introduced in different ways in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Action adaptation. This has been hinted at already through the teaser trailer. While Zoro’s introduction, which fans saw in the teaser trailer, appeared to be identical to the anime and manga, Sanji’s was quite different. Fans know that Sanji is introduced on Baratie when Fullbody is on a date.

In the teaser trailer, Sanji is seen interrupting a fight between Fullbody and Crescent Moon Galley. Galley simply doesn’t appear in the anime or the manga version of One Piece and instead features in the Romance Dawn prototype and a filler arc in the anime. This means that the circumstances of character introductions can very well be different in Netflix’s One Piece Live Action adaptation. Characters such as Usopp, Nami, and Sanji can be introduced in different ways. In fact, the introduction of Nami in the anime is very different compared to the manga and, similarly, the live-action version of One Piece could take another route when it comes to introducing characters.
