Everything, from the iconic characters to the most incredible of villains of the East Blue, made an appearance in the trailer and there is a lot for fans to look forward to, while being cautiously optimistic. Of course,One PieceLive Actionis simply an adaptation, which means that certain liberties will be taken, and some stuff will be changed around. From the teaser itself, quite a few changes are evident already.

6Usopp’s Nose

One of the changes that fans knew would come withOne Piece Live Actionis Usopp’s nose. In the manga and in the anime, Usopp has a pretty long nose and this is likely a play on Pinocchio, since Usopp is also a liar. However,in theOne Piece Live Action, Usopp’s actor, Jacob, doesn’t have any nose props.

This is for the better as a long nose in the live-action would simply not work all that well. Furthermore, Usopp’s long nose doesn’t really affect the plot of One Piece in any way and is there just for an extra touch to the character and, at times, some gags. TheOne Piece Live Actionseries will do very well without it.

5Luffy’s Sandals

A major decision that the showrunners of Netflix’sOne Piece Live Actionseries took was replacing Luffy’s iconic sandals with shoes instead. This is one decision that fans were split on. In the One Piece Netflix Live Action teaser, Luffy was seen wearing his shoes as he put his foot atop the barrel before entering the Grand Line.

While fans might hate this decision, it makes sense, given that the actors have to perform very difficult stunts, and doing all that in sandals is just not possible and could lead to significant injuries. At the end of the day, it doesn’t affect the story of One Piece in any way and only protects the actor, who will, hopefully, have to return in the future as well.

4Sanji’s Eyebrows

Just like Luffy and Usopp, Sanji’s character has also undergone some changes. In the live-action trailer,Sanji’s actor, Taz Skylar, didn’t seem to have the curly eyebrows that the character is famous for. Now, this is a change that fans certainly don’t mind all that much, however, it is interesting to note that Sanji’s eyebrows are actually relevant to the story ofOne Piece.

In fact, Oda has himself alluded to the fact that his eyebrows tie to the mysteries of Devil Fruit powers, among other things. The swirly pattern is very important to the series so, changing that is quite an interesting decision. When Oda does reveal this in the story, it will be interesting to see how theOne Piece Live Actionjustifies this change. Nonetheless, fans are absolutely in love with the casting for the role of Sanji and don’t mind it as much.

3Zoro Vs. Mr. 7

While this isn’t much of a change, Zoro was seen fighting against Mr. 7 in theOne Piece Live Actionteaser trailer. In the manga, or even in the anime, Mr. 7 simply does not appear. However, Zoro does bring him up in the story, as does Oda in his SBS corner. Including Mr. 7 in the series is a rather welcoming change as this would ensure that fans get a deeper look into the back story of Roronoa Zoro before he joins up with Luffy.

Fans have often complained about Zoro’s rather flat back story in the original medium and, perhaps, theOne Piece Live Actionseries will change that to some extent, for the better.

2The Clothes

One of the most incredible changes in Netflix’sOne Piece Live Actionseries that was actually apparent throughout the teaser is the fact that the main characters don’t simply keep the same clothes all the time. While in the One Piece manga, the cast does change their clothes often, it didn’t happen throughout the journey in the East Blue. In the One Piece Live Action series, the cast is seen with different clothes on different occasions. What makes this change doubly special is the fact that these clothes aren’t just random choices by the showrunners. Instead, these have been taken directly from color spreads that Oda has drawn, and they’ve been incorporated into the story in a beautiful fashion. Once again, this is a change that fans would absolutely adore and it just goes to showhow much love has gone into the creation of this series.

1Zoro’s Finishing Moves

Zorro is one of the core members of the One Piece story, be it in the manga, the anime, or the live-action series. He is just as important as the other members of the East Blue 5, and the fact that he is Luffy’s very first crewmate makes him even more special. When Luffy meets Zoro in theOne Piece Live Actiontrailer, he mentions to him that all fighters name their finishing moves, to which Zoro responds by saying that they don’t.

This is a rather strange change as Zoro has got an incredible arsenal of named moves. In fact, Zoro might well have the most complex names of any member of the Straw Hat Pirates and also the most named techniques as well. It could simply be Zoro trying to lighten up the mood, however, this change seems rather weird. Nonetheless, fans can only hope that a reason is provided once the actual show does come out, or that he ends up naming his techniques anyway.
