My Hero Academia: Season 6 Episode 9, Review
During the joint battle training, Deku is brainwashed by Hitoshi Shinso’s quirk and is put into a trance. While unconscious Deku encounters Daigoro and the rest of the previous One for all users. Daigoro then explains the black tendrils that Deku emitted are actually a manifestation of Diagoro’s quirk, Blackwhip. He goes on to explain that Blackwhip needs to be used in a more controlled state in order to gain the maximum out of the quirk since its power is connected to the user’s emotions, and if used carelessly is difficult to control. He also wishes Deku to do his best, and that all theOne for all predecessors arethere to support him and vanishes.
Blackwhip
A powerful quirk that gives the user the ability to produce tendrils from any part of their body and control them at will. Similar to Spiderman’s webs, these can be shot out of the user’s body to grapple onto objects and enemies. The tendrils are black with teal green outlines. The quirk is also primarily controlled with emotion, the stronger the emotion the stronger the quirk becomes.
Deku gradually learns to master this quirk as long as he stays calm anddoesn’t lose control of his emotions. He is seen protecting civilians by using Blackwhip to stop cars from falling. By the time the paranormal liberation war takes place, Deku has fully mastered Blackwhip and uses it to battle Tomura Shigaraki. He uses Blackwhip to reinforce his skeleton to land powerful blows on Tomura, significantly lessening the damage to his arms and legs. Deku’s anger and hatred towards Tomura fuels Blackwhips' power to be even stronger. He also uses Blackwhip as a restraining method on Tomura. Blackwhip also improvesDeku’s mobility to grapple, slingshot, swing off buildings and carry large objects.

Weakness
No matter how powerful a quirk can be, there are chances it may have a weakness. Blackwhip’s weakness is when the user has zero control over their emotional state which in turn results in no control over Blackwhip. This is seen in both the paranormal liberation war and the joint training battle. During the joint training battle Deku almost gravely injures one of his classmates and fears thenew quirk as it takes overhim due to his lack of control over his emotions. The paranormal liberation war is another instance where Deku loses his cool because of his hatred and anger toward Tomura and constantly pushes his body even after being warned not to.
Ultimate Moves
One of the top moves while also using Blackwhip is known as Froppy style, where Deku shoots a Blackwhip vine at an enemy using just his mouth. The name pays homage to his classmate Tsuyu Asui aka ‘Froppy’. Another move Deku uses with Blackwhip is known as PinPoint Focus,a powerful move that shootsa tendril at pinpoint precision at a specific target. A few other ultimate moves includes Faux 100 Percent, Faux 100 Percent: Manchester Smash which are both striking moves and Blackchain, which grapples onto opponents and binds them allowing Deku to throw them great distances.
