The following contains spoilers forMy Hero AcademiaChapter 384, “It’s a Small World,” by Kohei Horikoshi, translated by Caleb Cook available in English fromViz Media.

My Hero Academiachapter 384 was released recently and it was certainly a divisive one for the fans to read. While the chapter covered the various interesting happenings all over the battlefield, it did not cover much of the events of the war itself. That said, the chapter focused quite a lot on characters such as Gigantomachia, Shinso, and All For One, among others.

At the same time, the chapter also took some time to focus on the journalists surrounding the battlefield and their own fight to undo a wrong that they once committed by abandoning the Heroes in their time of need. This chapter was layered with emotional undertones and successfully showcased that the Heroes of Japan are not fighting alone. The people of the country are by their side.

Gigantomachia Vs. All For One

My Hero Academia384 was largely focused on All For One and his current state of being. As fans know already, All For One has used the Rewind power which stems from the Quirk of Eri. Using this power, he has reverted to his prime state and continues to revert himself to become even younger. At this point in time, All For One is even stronger than he was in the past during his prime state. He is at the pinnacle of his powers and that is why defeating him is such a difficult task. Fans saw characters such as Hawks, and, more importantly, Tokoyami, fight against him using everything that they had.

Then, students from Shiketsu Highjoined as well to continue the onslaught on All For One and keep him from getting to Tomura. In the last few chapters, another unit, led by Mt. Lady, joined the battlefield and they consisted of characters such as Kirishima, Shinso, and curiously, Gigantomachia.Gigantomachia was brainwashed by none other than Shinsoand taken control of to fight against All For One. However, this chapter made it pretty clear that Shinso’s brainwashing can be disrupted by a strong physical blow.

Gigantomachia’s Betrayal My hero academia 384

Gigantomachia’s Betrayal

All For One knew the weaknesses of Shinso’s brainwashing and did just that to break his control over Gigantomachia. By doing that, he would once again bring Machia to his side, however, to everyone’s surprise, that did not work. This is simply down to the fact that Gigantomachia was not brainwashed by Shinso at all. In fact, he broke through the brainwashing rather easily, becoming the only second person after Izuku Midoriya to ever do that. Once he broke free from the brainwashing, Gigantomachia then went on to contemplate his feelings and he came to the conclusion that he was betrayedby All For One. All For One told him to wait for him until the day he returns but he never did.

He was abandoned for the sake of All For One’s plans and now, he is resentful towards his master. With that in mind, Gigantomachia decided to fight against All For One. While this doesn’t seem to be all that believable and lacks a bit of emotional weight behind it, fans can let it pass as it is not a major plot line in the series. Nonetheless, Gigantomachia is now on the side of the heroes and he continued to assault All For One in this chapter.

His defensive powers, along with his offensive capabilities offer the Heroes a very strong asset in battle and one that they will continue to use in the next few chapters. Hawks then goes on to say that their plan seems to be working. By continuing their onslaughton All For One, they are keeping him away from Shigaraki and, consequently, All For One will run out of time. His rewind powers make sure that he rewinds with passing time and eventually, he will return to nothingness. When that happens, the threat of All For One will be no more so, to defeat him, all that the Heroes need to do is to keep him busy. The plan certainly is great, however, it is possible that the Heroes are not contemplating exactly how dangerous All For One can be. It is likely that he will not be stopped in his tracks right here and will eventually make his way to Shigaraki.

Redemption of journalists my hero academia 384

The Redemption Of The Journalists

My Hero Academia384 also focuses quite a bit on the journalists of Japan. Previously, the journalists and the people, in general, had turned their backs on the Heroes. They did not support them when they needed it most and believed that the Heroes had let them down. Even All Might, the Symbol of Peace, had people turn their backs on him and now, they realize the folly of their ways.My Hero Academia384 made sure that the journalists took responsibility following their past actions and, this time, show the entire world that the Heroes are still fighting not just for themselves but for the people as well. Despite the battle raging on, several journalists took their best equipment and got as close to the battle as possible, and started to show the entire world what was happening in Japan.

By putting their lives on the line, they are doing their part in the war and giving attention to the Heroes that they very much need. The journalists are motivated bythe strength of Izuku Midoriya, who has united the entire nation against the evil of All For One and has progressed to great lengths in a matter of one year. Izuku is already the greatest Hero and, come the end of the war, he will have solidified this title for himself. The entire world is watching and this is his stage. People from other countries, people from Japan, and even the Heroes themselves all believe in Izuku, and with all eyes on him, it is time for him to announce himself to the world, just as he once promised he would to All Might.
