MultiVersuskicked of Season 1 last month, attracting millions of players and becoming a huge success out of the gate. To keep fans engaged,MultiVersusdeveloper Player First Games will need to ensure that there’s a steady stream of new content released for the crossover fighting game. The main way this will be accomplished is through the addition of new characters, and it seems as thoughMultiVersus' next character will be added sooner rather than later.
MultiVersushas released a brief teaser trailer of what appears to be a mogwai, the adorable fuzzy creatures seen in the popular1984 horror comedy filmGremlins. In the teaser, the mogwai is trapped in a box, but it starts to open the lid and giggle as the camera cuts away. The associated tweet released alongside the teaser says thatMultiVersusfans have a surprise headed their way on Tuesday, suggesting September 6 will see the creature either added to the game’s playable roster, or that the full reveal will take place on that day.

Fans have known for some time thatGremlinscontent is coming toMultiVersus. Previous leaks made fans believe thatMultiVersuswas going to add the friendly mogwai Gizmo to the roster, but it’s since been confirmed that thevillainous Stripeis coming to the game instead. In theGremlinsmovies, mogwais turn into gremlins when they eat food after midnight. It’s possible that this mogwai is the one that turns into Stripe, and that transforming from a mogwai to a gremlin is part the character’s kit, though that is just speculation at this time. Fans will have to wait for Tuesday, September 6 to find out more.
IfMultiVersusadds Stripe to the roster on September 6, it will come as quite the surprise. After all,MultiVersusjust added Morty to the rosterabout a week ago, and so fans wouldn’t expect Stripe to come so soon. If Stripe does join theMultiVersusroster on September 6, though, it will still leave two more new characters to add beforeMultiVersusSeason 1 wraps up on November 15.
The remaining two characters that have been confirmed forMultiVersusSeason 1 are Rick ofRick and Mortyfame and Black Adam from DC Comics. Since theBlack Adamfilmis coming out in October, one would imagine that the character would be added toMultiVersusaround the same time to capitalize on the buzz surrounding the movie. IfMultiVersuswants to stick to one new character addition per month, that would mean Rick would be added in November, though Player First Games has not actually said anything about when it will be adding these characters, so fans should keep that in mind.
Besides new characters,MultiVersusfans are also waiting to see new game modes. Season 1 will be adding the anticipatedMultiVersusRanked and Arcade modes, though they lack release dates at the time of this writing.
