Just before the game’s trial version goes live, Capcom has shared the entire opening cinematic to give fans a taste of what to expect out ofMonster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin’sstory.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruinis a turn-based RPG spin-off of theMonster Hunterfranchise for those looking for a more traditional and lightheartedMonster Hunterexperience. Where theMonster Hunter main titles focus on Hunters,theStoriesseries focuses on Riders; people who bond with their monsters through kinship as the story focuses more on their friendship.

The opening cutscene shows players a ritual of the tribe the player character comes from, complete with singing and ceremonial dancing. The cutscene also shows female lead Ena finding an old and presumably blind Rathalos who gives her an egg, and that egg hatches into the player’s Rathalos companion later on.

When the cinematic ends, the video reminds viewers that a trial version forMonster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruinis releasingon June 25th, for those that are interested after seeing the beginning ofWings of Ruin’sstory. If that isn’t enough for potential fans, plenty of trailers showcase gameplay mechanics and further story elements, as well as information about the game’s pre-order bonuses for those that don’t want to miss out by waiting to secure their copy.

The opening cutscene does its part to set the stage, as well as keeping a fair part of the story hidden for players to explore if they choose to play the game or even just the trial version.
