Originally scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch,Monster Hunter RiseandMonster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruinare apparently receiving PC ports sometime after their anticipated releases in March 2021 and summer of 2021, respectively.
The canonical sequel to the massively popularMonster Hunter World,Monster Hunter Risemarks the next main installment in the series, with such titles historically bringing a slew of new features, mechanics, improvements, monsters, and more to the ever-evolving hunting formula.Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruintakes the series in a different direction, with emphasis on telling the story of a collection of characters via turn-based combat and JRPG mechanics instead of the dynamic, real-time action of a main series title.

While the idea of bothMonster Huntertitles coming to the PC is especially exciting for fans ofWorld, anyone interpreting the information found within the leak should stay skeptical as plans change, case-in-point beingMonster Hunter Rise’sownCOVID-19 related delays. Also bundled in the leak are details regarding several new releases from Capcom in the works, many utilizing familiar properties. Source code forDevil May Cry 2andUmbrella Chronicleshave been found, plans for a VR adaptation ofResident Evil 4, and a collection of cryptic codenames for future projects.
Unfortunately, a very possible result of these release plans being confirmed is the cancellation ofNintendo Switch pre-ordersfor either title. Given that the Switch versions are assuredly releasing on time coinciding with their advertised dates as opposed to the unofficial announcement of their PC counterparts dropping at a currently unspecified time, only the extremely patient PC players could consider the wait worthwhile.

For those unfamiliar,Storiesfocuses on the efforts of Monster Riders, elusive tamers of wyverns and beasts that exist to maintain the stability of the world’s ecosystems, similar to the responsibilities of Monster Hunters, just more subversive and decidedly more magical. Among these changes are the inclusion ofplayer character customization, adding a more personalized perspective to the growing side-series, its story complementary to the main canon.
