The first act ofModern Warfare Zombies’story missions will conclude with players deploying to a Terminus Outcomes mercenary base to extract Dr. Jansen - a researcher who has been working for Zakhaev’s forces but now wishes to defect. Originally joining Terminus simply to continue her research into aetherium (that was shut down initially by Operation Deadbolt as a security measure), Dr. Jansen has now realized the evil plans Zakhaev has for her research, and wants to use her research to stop him.
By completing the Extraction mission, players will complete the first act of story missions, Operation Deadbolt, and unlock the next series of missions -Act 2: Mother Of Invention.
Extraction Mission Objectives and Rewards
Extraction has two mission objectives - once complete, players will be awarded with anew loading screen and 5000 bonus experience.The objectives for the Extraction story mission are:
Gearing Up For Extraction
To initiate the rescue mission for Dr. Jansen, players will first need tohead into a standard deployment into Urzikstan and head to the marked Story Mission Exfil.Players should have theirstory mission exfil automatically taggedon deployment when the corresponding story mission is active, but players can always track down the exact Exfil location by looking on the tac-map for an icon of the blue stick figure from the exfil icon but with a gold starnext to the stick figures head.
Players can easily identify the Story Mission Exfil by theblue exfil icon with the star on the tac map,along with the red/brown smoke at the exfil location that becomes visible as players approach the exfil location. When players exfil to the Extraction Mission area,the play timer will reset,giving players the chance to play through Urzikstan, toughening up operators with perks andweapon upgrades before deployingto Dr. Jansen’s coordinates.
If players have aetherium crystal acquisitions, it is possible to rush straight to the story mission exfil, although players shouldconsider having at least the Jugger-Nog perk active, along with aPack-a-Punch level I upgradeon both weapons. If players do not have the acquisitions or schematics to deploy with these boosts, take advantage of the 45 minutes available to operate in Urzikstan. Efficiently completing contracts will grant players a variety of rewards, along with essence that can be spent to purchase any perks or upgrades not found in reward rifts. When ready,call Fang at the marked Extraction story exfil and survive the exfil process like normal- once the landing site is clear climb about the transport helicopter.
Access the Communications Tower
After loadinginto the story mission area,players will need to navigate through the Terminus Outcomes army to access the communications relay, providing players with coordinates for Dr. Jansen and her lab.Exit the helicopter and drop off the rooftops to the right. If playershead outside the concrete wallof the compound, they can easily make it to the fire station where the comms tower is located.Take the tunnel under the railroad tracks, cross the road, and clear out the first floorof the first station before jumping in through one of the windows.
In the hallway on the south end of the building there is a staircase that will get players to the first roof level- be cautious of the spawning horde and the holed-up mercenaries in the fire station. Take the rooftop staircase to the second roof level and interact with the computer attached to the comms tower to search the area for Dr. Jansen.Be aware of the glass sunlight windows on the roof, as mercenaries on the floors below will quickly target players if in line of sight.After the search on the communications array is completed, players will receive an indicator of Dr. Jansen’s general location.
Finding Dr. Jansen
Once players access the communications tower and discover Dr. Jansen’s location,parachute off the roof and head towards the next compound. Dr. Jansen’s lab will be foundon the north end of the next compound near the pier.Players will want to be careful on approach as the area is defended by several mercenaries. Keep an eye and ear out for zombies, as players will also have todeal with Tier II zombieswhile operating in the Extraction mission area.
Once the area is safe,head to the middle of the search area provided on the mini-map and look for a red walkway ramping down. If players follow this road Dr. Jansen can be found inside her lab, behind some glass windows. Dr. Jansen will be in the process of deleting copies of her work, asking players to hold the area for a few moments until she can complete the deletion. Players will have tosurvive for roughly 90 secondswhile mercenaries storm Dr. Jansen’s lab to try and stop her, similar tothe Defend Ground Station contractsin Urzikstan. As there is not much local cover,try to avoid shooting zombies when possible as the undead make great distractions against the mercenaries.
Extracting Dr. Jansen
After Dr. Jansen erases all the data, she will tell players it’s time to leave and exit her lab with her service weapon. Players will need toescort Dr. Jansen to the helicopter pad on the roof- do not get too far ahead or behind or Dr. Jansen will stop moving and hold her position,similar to the ACV in escort contracts. The stairways leading up to the helicopter pad are incredibly tight, use an SMG or shotgun to clear the mercenaries if available. Players can also use tac stance to assist with the CQC if using a mid or long-range rifle.
Once on the helipad, players will need tohold the area for a few moments as Fang begins her final approach to the area. At this point,the horde will grow in intensity, use the outer edge of the helipad to run in a large loop if players need to get away for a few moments.Having elemental pop activewill help suppress the horde as the numbers begin to build on the helipad.
Once Fang approaches,board the helicopter with Dr. Jansen and head back to Operation Deadbolt headquarters. As the helicopter flies away, the story cutscene will begin, and players will complete the Extraction mission.Be sure to watch the entire cutscene(unfortunately, there is no way for players to skip the cutscene),if players back out while the cutscene is playing it will count as leaving the game and players will not get successful exfil credit, andwill lose all weapons, items, and gear.Allow the cutscene to play, and once complete players will be taken to the mission report screen and lock in all the rewards earned from completing the Extraction mission.
