Is there anything more hilarious than pitching balls that players swing at and miss by almost a full foot? When gamers learn to pitch well inMLB The Show 22, they’ll spend at least half of their games on the verge of laughter, tossing up pitches that completely ruin any hope of hitting.

Of course, most players start out by getting blown out. These games drag on forever andMLB The Show 22is going to get even worse the more it is played until the gamer learns to master their prowess on the mound. With a few tweaks, it’s not unreasonable to expect a perfect game or two very soon.

Carefully Choose An Archetype And Perks

Any of the three archetypes will work well in the game. There isn’t a single right answer as control, break, and velocity should be a part of every pitcher’s game. Just keep in mind that archetype will matter more than all gear combined, so it’s a big choice.

Once selected, it’s wise to analyze how the perks are working every so often. There comes a point where velocity, control, or break are nearly capped out/. Switching out a perk to help with the other categories willradically improve a player’s performance in Road to the Show.

Use Only Three Pitches (With One Slider And One Fastball)

There is an advantage to having five pitches. Whenplaying against friendsor the AI, a large arsenal keeps hitters from guessing what pitch is coming up next. So why limit to three? Because pitch confidence is based on usage, players who try and use all five pitches will throw every pitch with lower quality than those who stick to just three.

Always have a fastball and slider in the rotation. A fastball is the most accurate pitch and should be used to paint the corners with regularity. Sliders are the best strikeout pitch since they have horizontal and vertical movement.

Adjust Equipment Occasionally

Whenusing equipment, pitchers have a tougher job than hitters. If they stack one attribute, hitters will punish them where they are weak. For example, focusing exclusively on K/9 is great until a high contact hitter with a little pop clobbers a home run due to the low HR/9.

The best barometer of this is experience, not the stat sheet. Throw a few games and then reassess. For example, if hits are getting smacked hard with regularity, grab some H/9. Maxing out one attribute sounds fun, but it’s not as effective as a more balanced approach.

Target The Corners

Never, for any reason, should the middle or sides of the plate be targeted. Balls on the corners have the advantage of being both strikes and hard to hit. For the batter, getting perfect contact with perfect timing on the corner is often still a pop out or a ground out.

Don’t be afraid to throw some outside of the strike zone when ahead in the count. Make it close to the zone, but just off of the plate. A player with two strikes is essentially forced to swing because of the count, and the three outcomes all benefit the pitcher: missing the ball entirely, fouling it off, or weak contact for an easy out.
