If a series of random numbers inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s gameplay trailer is to be believed, it’s possible the game launches on July 26, 2025. While theSpider-Man 2trailer was the highlight of the recent PlayStation Showcase, many were confused when it ended with a broad fall 2023 release window instead of a specific release date, especially since fall is right around the corner.
This has led to some concerns thatSpider-Man 2could be delayed into 2024, but its release date has always been an area of discussion. Previously,Venom’s voice actor inMarvel’s Spider-Man 2said that marketing would begin in August ahead of a September release date. It’s possible that this was or wasn’t true at the time, but on the assumption it was, it wouldn’t be surprising for Sony or Insomniac to push it a couple of extra months. November is shopping season and often a hot period for new video game releases, after all.

Either way, this number sequence was seemingly first spotted by YouTuber AndyReloads. IntheSpider-Man 2trailerwhen Peter lands on an enemy vehicle and fans see the game switch from him to Miles Morales, there is a sequence very faintly on display on the Hummer. It’s there, however faint, and reads 201123. This easily translates to July 12, 2025, but it does raise more questions than it potentially answers though. First, it seems strange to hide a release date in the trailer to begin with, especially if there is a more elaborate marketing tactic Sony was planning for the title. The relevant portion of the video is around the 1:20-time mark below:
Secondly, because Insomniac Games' studios are based in North Carolina and California, it would be odd for said hidden release date to be in British (or non-American) formatting, with the date first and the month second. There could be a simple explanation for that, of course, but it’s still strange. At the same time, most video games release on a Tuesday or a Friday, but November 20 is a Monday. It’s another area that could be waved off asGod of War Ragnarokwas released on a Monday, but nonetheless, it’s an interesting sequence with a lot of potential caveats.
No matter what, it’s clear fans are super excited about their next journey as Spider-Men. Getting to play asPeter Parker and Miles Morales inSpider-Man 2, for example, is a big deal, as well as the ability to quickly shift between them. For now, though, fans just need to be patient and wait for Sony andInsomniac to confirmMarvel’s Spider-Man 2’s release date, whether this one is true or not.
