Disney’s Marvel movies have always gone through a great amount of post-production to bring the iconic characters from the comics to life on the big screen for the fans, includingCaptain Marvel. Brie Larson’s Carol Danversis one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes and one of manyAvengerscharacters who require a lot of computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Captain Marvelis known for her cosmic powers, which cause her unique glow. Her cosmic energy gives her energy manipulation, super strength, super speed, and, of course, flight. She was one of the few heroes who wereable to take on Thanosalone during the events of theAvengers: Endgame. One can imagine how hard it was to make a character like this seem real on film, but they managed to pull it off.

In the image from Reddit, fans can see the “before” and “after” of making Larson’s fan-favorite character appear on the screen. The image shows the actor with her hair pulled back in a tight cap with cables holding her up as she wearsthe iconic Captain Marvel suit. In the photo below, fans can see which aspects of her were added to the film during post-production. The scene being filmed involves Captain Marvel venturing out to scout the planet Thanos retired to after successfully wiping out half the population in the universe.

One of the features that were added to Captain Marvel in post-production was her hair. As many know, Captain Marvel is often seen with a glowing aura when she activates her powers, as well as when she’s in space. With that being said, her hair is given a “zero-gravity” effect that makes it appear like it’s floating in the empty vacuum of space, which is why CGI was used. Many may notice the similarities between the filming of thisAvengers: Endgamesceneand the making ofAquaman.

Another shocking feature is the costume. Fans may notice that her costume differs slightly in the second image, where her gold emblem extends to her shoulders. It seems that fans should expect by now that almost every costume in the MCU will have been enhanced or touched up with CGI.

Still, the Reddit caption says it all with a message that reads, “You know the CGI is good when you didn’t know it was CGI.” This is a true statement on its own and a testament to how far the Marvel films have come in their production. Captain Marvel will return inthe upcoming sequel filmThe Marvels.
