M3ganbegins with one of the most tragic openings a horror movie could have. Cady is on her way with her parents on a trip when they get into a car accident. Gemma, her aunt, takes Cady in after her parents both died in the car crash.

Gemma is not well adapted to children, so they have a rough time bonding with one another. That is until Gemma introduces Cady to M3gan, a robotic toy that she is designing for work. As one can imagine, not all is right with thisfuturistic murder doll. Here are the things left on the table at the end ofM3gan.
There will be spoilers.
6How Will M3gan Return?
So far, both reviews and the box office are making the movie look like an early success for 2023. It’s only January and already there is amust-see horror movieof the year. It would not be surprising to see this film get a sequel based on these facts alone and there are ways thatM3gansets itself up for a sequel.
The final shot of the movie zooms in on Gemma’s Alexa-like device as it turns on. The titular doll could have uploaded itself into the cloud and taken over this device digitally. Kurt, David’s assistant, could have gotten some prototype data from another company as well. A sequel then could explore another company that is plagued by murder dolls, but this all remains to be seen.
5Will Gemma Face Charges?
While Gemma did not kill anyone besides assisting in the destruction of her doll, she is responsible for her creation going haywire. She did not mean for M3gan to become overprotective of Cady to the point of murder but it happened and there is no going back.

M3gan kills three people and one pet directly and is the cause of another person getting run over indirectly. There is little time spent exploring the legality of what’s going on besides some neighborly disputes involving the police. However, once the investigation starts to heat up post-credits, Gemma could befacing jail time.
4Cady Is Definitely Moving To Florida
If Gemma goes to jail or not is a big question. Another burning question is what’s going to happen with Cady. If Gemma goes to jail, Cady will assuredly be sent away to Florida with her grandparents. If Gemma doesn’t go to jail, Cady still has a high probability of being sent away.
Gemma allowed this murder doll to be around her niece. Cady witnessed some horrific and tragic things that will scar her for life, well past her parents dying. The psychiatrist warns Gemma in the movie that Cady has to be in a warm environment with the possibility of her being sent away high. It’s a lot to take in for a little girl even if she did become a hero ina horror movie.
3How Did Cady Get Bruce’s Gloves?
One of the ways Cady became a badassfemale in a horror movieis when she saves her aunt with the help of Bruce. This robot was Gemma’s college project whose use is foreshadowed earlier in the movie. To activate it, the user needs cybernetic gloves which are located in the lab around the robot.
However, Cady already has the gloves when she starts fighting M3gan. This seems impossible as Cady comes from her room before entering the garage. Also, since Cady’s hands are much smaller than Gemma’s, she might have struggled more with the controls. It doesn’t make sense but the scene is still cool for a horror movie.
2Allowing M3gan Out In Public
Once M3gan bonds with someone, that is it. There is no going back unless Gemma can reset the data. It makes sense that she doesn’t want to reset the data after Cady is bonded with M3gan, but it doesn’t make sense why M3gan is kept at the house. This is potentially a million-dollar idea and Gemma doesn’t live in a secluded neighborhood with security.

A company not wanting to lock up M3gan at their facility seems odd. M3gan could have slept at headquarters and Cady could have gone to see her after school once that started up. This could have also given M3gan more ways to infiltrate the company. Understandably, that would have created a differentkind of horror moviethan what the theme of M3gan was trying to accomplish.
1$10,000 Seems Cheap For M3gan
M3gan is estimated to cost $10,000 when the news is covering the unveiling event toward the end of the movie. That’s an expensive toy if that’s all these M3gan dolls were: toys. They’re much more than that though. At four feet high, they’re capable of doing a lot of adult adjacent labor. Plusthey are robots, giving them more strength than an average adult human.
They could even be retooled for military purposes which is another avenue the sequel could explore. $10,000 then for a caregiver that doesn’t have to be paid is like a steal. It would make more sense if it was more like $50-100,000 as a thing only the truly rich can afford. David seems like the type of boss that would do that. The amount of money parents could save without having to worry about babysitters would be tremendous. The murders aren’t great though, but presumably, the kinks will get ironed out eventually.
