Summary

Fable Arts inLies of Pare basically Round 8 Studio’s version of Weapon Arts fromDark Souls 3. They’re skills or abilities tied to specific weapon parts (blades or handles) that players use a resource separate from mana or health to trigger.

And, inLies of P, each weapon actually has two Fable Arts, with one being tied to the blade and the other to the handle. There are also multiple different categories of Fable Arts in this game such as Attack Fable Arts, Defense Fable Arts, and Utility Fable Arts. With all that in mind, let’s take a look at some of the best Attack-based Fable Arts inLies of Pand rank them against each other.

3 Bars

Exploding Pickaxe (Blade)

Flamestrike is a Fable Art that’s specifically tied to only one weapon inLies of P, the Exploding Pickaxe. And, it’s very apt that this Fable Art is unique to this weapon, as only an exploding pickaxe could realistically have an attack like this and it would make ‘logical’ sense.

When using Flamestrike, Pinocchio winds up the Exploding Pickaxe, runs forward, jumps, and then slams down with the sharp end of the Pickaxe before it creates an explosion on contact. Then, afterward, the Pickaxe stays (temporarily at least) imbued with Fire. So not only is this a great offense-focused Fable Artto have on any weapon combination, but it’s also a great one for Carcass enemies in particular since they’re weak to Fire damage.

Pistol Rock Drill (Handle)

Not only is this next Fable Art hilarious to use with different Blades, given the…suspect motion of the weapon while the Fable Art is triggered, but it’s also just a very useful Fable Art overall. Furious Forward Stab is another Fable Art that’s exclusive to one weapon, the Pistol Rock Drill.

And, when using this Fable Art, players hold out the handle of the Pistol Rock Drill as it pumps back and forth in a drilling motion, repeatedly stabbing whoever (or whatever)the game’s iconic protagonist Pinocchiopoints it at. While that sounds hilariously comical, it’s actually a fantastic attack overall. This Fable Art not only tears through an enemy’s health, but it also applies a ton of Stagger damage on top of the default damage it deals.

Acidic Crystal Spear (Handle), City Longspear (Blade), Etiquette

And now for probably the most boring Fable Art on here, at least visually, Single Stab. Single Stab can be found on most of the spear-like weapons inLies of Psuch as the Acidic Crystal Spear, City Longspear, and even Etiquette.

When used, Single Stab has the player ‘charge up’ their weapon before launching themselves forward in a long-reaching stabbing motion. Not only is the damage of this Fable Art pretty absurd given the short charge time but it’s also a relatively safe option to use in even the shortest of windows between enemy attacks. Sure, it costs 3 whole pips of the player’s Fable Meter, but something this strong should cost that much.

Military Shovel (Blade)

For anyone who has played Garen inLeague of Legendsor who has just played a lot of video games in general, the Furious Spinning Slash of the Military Shovel inLies of Pis very the definition of ‘spin to win’. When triggered, this Fable Art has Pinocchio holding the shovel outward at full length and then spinning it in circles over and over again to hit anything in range.

But, sadly, this Fable Art is tied to the blade, not the handle, so players can only do this spin when using the blade attached to something else. However, when the Military Shovel has both its blade and handle in one, players can use the Alter Fable Art of the handle to massively extend the reach of the shovel before using Furious Spinning Slash to almost double their reach.

Big Pipe Wrench (Handle)

The next two Fable Arts are grouped together primarily because they function the exact same, one is just a swinging motion and the other is a stab. These Fable Arts can be found on weapons like the Blind Man’s Double-Sided Spear as well as the Big Pipe Wrench and they’re fantastic Fable Arts for players who rely on Guarding or Perfect Guarding quite often.

Essentially, players will want to use this Fable Art immediately after a successful Guard/Perfect Guard to counterattack, as it’s designed to deal more damage if used in this way. Players can use this Fable Art without Guarding first, but they’ll find it comes out a bit slower and deals less damage overall.

Attack

Booster Glaive (Blade), Black Steel Cutter (Blade), Bramble Curved Sword (Blade), Clock Sword (Blade), Frozen Feast, Puppet’s Saber (Blade)

As opposed to many other weapons on here that earned a spot from being a powerful exclusive Fable Art, this next one called Storm Slash has earned a spot this high mostly because of how accessible it is. This Fable Art can be found on 6 different weapons including the Booster Glaive, Black Steel Cutter, Bramble Curved Sword, Clock Sword, Frozen Feast, and Puppet’s Saber.

And, it’s a very simple Fable Art to explain too. When used, this Fable Art causes Pinocchio to unleash a flurry (about 4 or 5) of horizontal slashes from both directions with their weapon. And while this Fable Art doesn’t have any sort of poise or super armor on it while attacking, if players pick the right times to use it, they’ll almost assuredly kill whatever they’re fighting unless it’s a boss of some sort.

Uroboros’s Eye

A bit unfair to include Special Weapon Fable Arts on here, but the Fable Arts are actually the primary thing that makes a few of these Special Weapons so incredibly powerful. For example, on the Uroboros’s Eye that’s gained fromtrading Laxasia’s Rare Ergointo Alidoro, players have a Fable Art called Wandering Moon.

This Fable Art is one of the only Fable Arts in the game that is truly ranged. When used, players take the Chakram-like weapon the Uroboros Eye and literally throw it at their enemy. The weapon then spins for a second or two while making contact with the enemy, dealing a pretty absurd amount of damage, before returning to the player.

Puppet Ripper

The Puppet Ripper weapon inLies of Pis not only one of the most ‘edgy’ weapons in the game, given that it’s a big scythe, but it’s also one of the best. This weapon is made from the Rare Ergo of one of thegame’s most fearsome bosses the King of Puppets. And yes, it’s almost the exact same weapon that Romeo uses against Pinocchio in phase 2 of that fight.

When Pinocchio uses it, however, its moveset is a bit different, with the Storm Spinning Slash being one of the primary examples. Storm Spinning Slash is the true example of how this weapon’s blade is on a thread, as Pinocchio literally puts the weapon above their head and spins it with the Scythe unattached, turning themselves into a whirling maelstrom of damage.

Two Dragons Sword

Moving on to another Fable Art from a weapon made from Rare Ergo, it’s the Wind of Swords Fable Art from the Two Dragons Sword. Not only is this weapon tied to multiple NPC side quests inLies of P(which the game is so helpful in tracking), but it’s also just unabashedly overpowered compared to the rest of the weapon catalog.

This thing has its own unique moveset, the ability to move while attacking, a mid-attack parry, and of course, it also has the Wind of Swords Fable Art, making it one of thebest weapons to upgrade to +5 inLies of P,hands down.

Golden Lie

The Golden Lie is one of the very last weapons that players will likely obtain in their first run ofLies of P.And, it is a weapon that’s entirely tiedto one specific path of the game, lying. If players lie all throughout the game they’ll find that the Portrait of a Boy that they found in the Black Rabbit Brotherhood Hideout has this wooden nose that keeps extending more and more off the surface of the painting the more they lie.

And, once they reach the end of the game (by defeating the last bossand not the ‘true final boss’) they can return to Geppetto’s study and approach the painting again to pull this weapon out of it, as it was the nose all along.
