In a recent Twitter thread on Midori’s account, she claims a new project at Nintendo codenamed “SPRed” is in development at Nintendo, noting that pastMariogames had used Red in its codename. This is supported by how variousSuper Mariogames, both 3D and 2D, used a variation on the “red” codename. For example,Super Mario Odysseywas called RedStar andSuper Mario Bros. Wonderwas called SecRed. Midori notes that a project called SilverStar was in development at Nintendo, but it is unknown what has happened to it, other than its connection to RedStar andOdyssey.
The Connection Between SilverStar and SPRed
