Tuesday’s Riot Forge Showcase featured new information on a plethora of games deriving from Riot Games' popularLeague of Legendsuniverse. Between highly-anticipated titles likeConvergenceandHextech Mayhemand the announcement of thelong-awaited release ofRuined King, several games set within the world of Runeterra were shown off during the 20-minute broadcast. Among the games covered was a brand new entry focusing on one ofLeague’s original characters,Song of Nunu: A League of Legends Story.
Riot Forge was founded by theLeague of Legendsdevelopers as a publisher program to allow third-party developers to make new games within theLeague of Legendsuniverse. With Riot working to expand the universe of the successful MOBA through its own releases likeLegends of Runeterraand the currently-airing Netflix seriesArcane, Riot Forge looked to provide more opportunities for unique stories by allowing non-Riot developers to bring their own spin on the game’s iconic characters. Now,Song of Nunuwill follow the young Notai boy Nunu and his yeti Willump on a quest to find his mother.

Song of Nunuis being developed bySpanish studio Tequila Works, previously known for their work on games like 2012’sDeadlightand 2017’sRime.The game will be a narrative adventure game as Nunu and Willump traverse the frozen mountains and canyons of the Freljord using Nunu’s magical flute to solve a variety of elemental puzzles. The trailer features several different game elements from using Nunu’s flute to create ice bridges across lakes, climbing up frozen waterfalls, and even a tease of combat with one of the Freljordian queens, Lissandra.
While a specific release date wasn’t confirmed alongside the game’s announcement,Song of Nunu’s first trailer did confirm the game is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2022. One of Riot Forge’s initial games,Convergence, was similarly announced to be releasing during 2022 during the broadcast and the other,Ruined King,was surprise launched on all platforms shortly following the broadcast. Riot Forge also announced theofficial release ofHextech Mayhemduring the broadcast.
The slew of announcements during the Tuesday morning broadcast was just the most recent in Riot’s concerted efforts to bring theLeague of Legendsuniverse to even more fans. The firstfully animatedLeague of Legendsseries,Arcane, has been a massive success for the California-based developer, topping Netflix charts worldwide, and Riot’s promotions has seenLeague of Legendscharacters added to several games includingFortnite, PUBG, and most recentlyAmong Us.Song of Nunulooks to serve as another entry that will deepen the stories of the world of Runeterra even more.
