TheKingdom Heartsseries celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022 with a host of exciting announcements. Ateaser trailer forKingdom Hearts 4was finally unveiled, but another new title in the series was also revealed by Square Enix.Kingdom Hearts: Missing Linkwill be coming to mobile platforms. As a follow-up on the announcement of the mobile title,KHdirector Tetsuya Nomura shared a few details about the future of the series in the interview, including the news thatKingdom Hearts: Missing Linkwill be having a closed beta test later this year.
Kingdom Hearts: Missing Linkis not the series' first mobile title. Square Enix launchedKingdom Hearts Union X [Cross]for web browsers in Japan back in 2013. The mobile version followed two years later in 2015, and the English version came out one year later in 2016. Later on,Union X [Cross]had anexpansion titledKingdom Hearts: Dark Road, which will also be getting a final update in the future. By completingDark Road, the devs may have considered it time to introduce a new mobile title to theKHseries withMissing Link.

In the recent interview that Nomura participated in, the director shared thatKingdom Hearts: Missing Linkwill be having a closed beta test scheduled for Fall 2022. Unfortunately, no exact date was shared in the interview and there was no mention of whether the closed beta test will be open to fans outside of Japan. However, Nomura did provide a bit of information aboutKingdom Hearts: Missing Linkcharacter creationand gameplay, which is something many fans can look forward to.
In the interview, Nomura also shared some tidbits about using Street View on Google Maps and using Augmented Reality forKingdom Hearts: Missing Link’s gameplayand battle system. This may mean that there could be physical location-based features implemented in the game, similar to Niantic’s mobile titlePokemonGO. However, until Square Enix shares official news about the title, fans will have to consider these ideas as mere speculation for now.
At the end of the interview, it was shared that a more in-depth version will be published at a later date. Hopefully more information aboutKingdom Hearts: Missing Linkwill be revealed by Nomura in that iteration. Fans are likely eager to learn more intricate details and what they can expect in the new mobile title.
