Following a 2020 drought due to the pandemic, Marvel Studios has been roaring back in 2021 with plenty of exciting new content like Disney Plus' upcomingHawkeyeseries. But before cameras began rolling on the highly anticipated series, MCU veteran Jeremy Renner gave his new co-star, Hailee Steinfeld, some very honest advice when she first arrived on set.
Steinfeld will play the role ofKate Bishop inHawkeye, the protege to Jeremy Renner’s Clint Barton/Hawkeye. Recently, she discussed her preparation for the role (which involved countless hours of training with a bow) as well as what Renner had shared with her towards the start of production onHawkeye.

“I wanted [the archery] to be second nature by the time I got out to Atlanta to shoot, but the first time we met, Jeremy was like, ‘Listen, you’re going to get there and you’re not even shooting a real arrow, it’s all CGI. But I was still grateful to have the mechanics down,” shared Steinfeld during an interview with Entertainment Weekly. In addition to her training, Steinfeld further explained her process of watching many videos of professionals handling the bow to familiarize herself with the weapon and archery in general. While Renner does have a point when mentioning how much CGI will be involved, Steinfeld’s dedication to learning how to handle a bow will definitely create a more grounded and realistic portrayal for fans to become attached to whenthey meet Kate Bishop.
