Fans have been campaigning forWBD to sell the Snyderverse to Netflix, seeing as how Snyder had two moreJustice Leaguefilms planned followingZack Snyder’s Justice League, and the director already has a working relationship with Netflix regardingArmy of the Deadand the upcomingRebel Moon. Gunn stated that Netflix and Snyder had not expressed interest in February 2023. A DC fan confronted Gunn with a recording ofSnyder answering the big question at Full Circleregarding his interest in continuing the Snyderverse, either with WBD or a 3rd party like Netflix. Snyder said, “of course,” in a heartfelt response describing how much the mythology of the DC Universe, the amount of work he’s put into developing it, and the fans mean to him. The DC Studios CEO fired back against the DC fan on Threads, stating, “I would think it was obvious that Zack hadn’t expressed any interest to ME in our discussions, so you can quit spamming this on every single post!”

The fan responded in defense, “why would it matter at all if it was mentioned to you in particular or not? Him expressing interest or no interest is the only fact that matters.” The fan then said that Snyder showing interest in returning to DC “seems to have changed nothing for some reason, but at least you’re [James Gunn] definitely aware now.” At the time of writing, Gunn has not continued the conversation.

Greg Silverman, the previous Warner Bros President, stated thatthe Snyderverse was very profitable for the studio, and even withZack Snyder’s Justice Leaguewinning against the MCU’s most significant movies in a poll of 56,244 people, Gunn appears hesitant. The DC Studios CEO essentially throwing the ball back in Snyder’s court implies that he may never have intended to have him direct another DC film in the first place, despite the omission that he placed on Snyder in a conversation with DC fans.

However, the question remains, would Gunn approve Snyder’s desire to direct anotherDCfilm if Snyder did reach out, or would it be similar tothe meeting between Gunn and Henry Cavill, in which the actor expressed excitement to meet Gunn and discuss the character’s future after Warner Bros. announced his return as Superman, only for Gunn to inform Cavill that he was going in a different direction. It is unlikely that Snyder would seek Gunn out since he is busy withRebel Moonat Netflix and presumably because of how previous WB executives mistreated him and his art after his family tragedy during the production ofJustice League. However, Snyder has previously stated that his door is open and has “no complaints” with WB or Gunn.
