While talking withPolygon, Kirkman discussed what it was like to work with Cullen duringInvincibleseason 2’s production. “Working with Peter Cullen was ahugetest for my professionalism,” Kirkman said. “Just flat-out, every fiber of my being was screaming,Don’t ask him about Optimus Prime. Don’t talk about Optimus Prime. What are you doing? Just be a professional, come on." Kirkman added that he cried knowing that a rare talent like Cullen was voicing his character. “But for the most part, we would be on a text thread while the voice director was working with the actor, after introductions and things like that. And that was a godsend, because — you know, to say there were tears is embarrassing, but whatever, I’ll say it. Optimus Prime, big part of my life, you know? I’ve been hearing Peter Cullen’s voice since I was like 7 years old. So to have him voicing the character he voices — it’s crazy to have written dialogue that’s coming out of his mouth. It’s really something else.”

Fans familiar with Cullen that have tuned intoInvinciblepointed out that the legendary voice actorwill voice the character Thaedus, a Viltrumie. Without giving away too much, Thaedus is, in a way, cut from the same cloth as Omni-Man. Knowing that Omni-Man left his mission to take over Earth - supposedly extremely rare for a Viltrumite - it’s fair to expect Thaedus to have a relevant role in season 2 if the show follows his comic book interpretation.

Invinciblewas such a massive hit that well-renowned actors like Sterling K. Brown and Rhea Seehorn joined the cast, and other well-known voice actors like Cullen and Josh Keaton will join the show. The show’s immense popularity has reached a point where Kirkman expressed his desireto have Bryan Cranston join the show. While Cranston declined, the door may not be shut.

That plays a part in why season 2 has as much hype as it has. Besides the new talent coming to the show,Invinciblewill follow up on an exciting first season that promised it would get better from here.
