Reddit user RebirthAltair recently shared a clip in which they move theHogwarts Legacycamera around using Universal Unreal Engine Unlocker.TheHogwarts Legacyprotagonistis standing alongside Professor Fig in front of the enchanted stone showing Gringotts Bank in the early moments of the game. With the scene paused, RebirthAltair moves the camera into the stone, showing a full render of the room inside. The room has Professor Fig and player character models standing between a stone wall and a glassy surface that gives it the reflective look. Inside the room behind the mirror, only the backside of these models is visible so that they properly portray the front of both characters from the player’s perspective in the tutorial.
Although theHogwarts Legacyportkey symbol is visible in the center of the mirror on the front, it disappears on the back. Upon interacting with this portkey symbol on the mirror, the player would normally be transported into the room that’s reflected. This takes the player to Gringotts Bank for the rest of the tutorial, concluding with a clash between Professor Fig andHogwarts Legacyvillain Ranrok. Instead of whisking theHogwarts Legacyplayer to a different part of the map when interacting with the mirror, the Gringotts room is already loaded to step into. While the mirror effect used inHogwarts Legacyhas been done by games in the past, the improved visuals make it less obvious.
Given the magical nature ofHogwarts Legacyand theHarry Potteruniverse, developers likely tried different tricks to achieve the right effects. Because there are several cutscenes like thisHogwarts Legacymirror one, RebirthAltair may use this trick to discover more behind-the-scenes secrets.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Nintendo Switch version is expected to release on November 14.
