After the success ofHer StoryandTelling Lies, Sam Barlow and his team atthe newly formed Half Mermaidhave released its latest title:Immortality. In it, players have to go through three unreleased films, titled “Ambrosia,” “Minsky,” and “Two of Everything,” to investigate the fate of the missing actor Marissa Marcel.

Immortalityis definitely building upon the team’s previous works.WhileHer StoryandTelling Lieshad simply shot interview footage and candid webcam setups,Immortalityfeatures multi-camera dynamic cinematography. Instead of asking players to search for specific keywords in a database, it asks players to use match cuts to jump between the three films.

How Long to Beat Immortality

“How long does it take to beat Immortality?” is a difficult question to answer, for sure. Playtimes are going to vary wildly from person to person.

The absolute fastest times for this game clock in at around three hours to reach the credits. Those seem to be rushed playthroughs, however, andmost reviews tend to place the game’s runtime at 5-6 hours.

Like its acclaimed predecessor,Her Story,Immortalityis a nonlinear experience. While certain clips are earlier to find than others, a savvy player can stumble into critical information early. Adding to this, not all clips are required for solvingImmortality’s mystery. Some players will make a beeline to the key clues, while some will take a winding path through errata.

For completionists, however, the story is different. Depending on how savvy and dedicated the player is,it can take up to 20 hours to find every hidden clip in the game. Whether this is a worthwhile endeavor will vary depending on the player and what they want out of the experience since it involves staying well after they’ve already solved the mystery.

Immortalityis available now for Mobile, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
