Paper Mario: The Origami Kinghas just released on Switch. While the game includes plenty of other new additions, Nintendo has once again found a way to add motion controls to one of its first-party games. Luckily, players are able to turn off these motion controls fairly early on.
In the newest adventure for the 2D hero,Paper Mario: The Origami Kinghas players help Mario fight back against the shape-shifting, origami villain King Olly. Mario and Olly’s sister, Olivia, join forces to stop Olly’s take over and rescue Princess Peach, who has been turned into origami by the new evil ruler. In his journey,Mario will meet new companionsto help him in his conquest against the origami baddies and save the Mushroom Kingdom.

There are plenty of cases ofSwitch games having great motion controls, however, some fans will find them tedious. InPaper Mario: The Origami King,motion controls are used to control Mario’s 1,000-Fold Arms to reach certain spots in the game. The game will also ask players to shake the controller or the entire Switch console if players are in handheld mode. Fortunately, opening the right tab in the menu will free players from the default motion control settings.

Motion controls can be turned off very early on in the game. After taking control of Mario, players can quickly avoid the frustrations of motion controls. The movement of motion controls is replaced by using the L-stick and the actions that required movement is replaced with the A button. After the motion controls are turned off, the setting will remain the same unless the player turns them back on.
