How much is real seems uncertain, especially with the news that just dropped at Gamescom. A new trailer has been released showing a full 6 minutes of gameplay forIn Sound Mind, with the gameplay coming from two of the game’s segments.

In Sound Mind, according to its creator in the video, will be separated into segments, each one tied to a different tape. The tapes are used to access spooky locations housing monsters tied to events that happened there. The most prominent monster on display was the Gorgon-esque Virginia, who players have to ward off with a mirror. The formula should feel a bit familiar to anyone who has playedthe latestDark Picturesgame, where the player focuses on different groups of people in different time periods.
There are more action-oriented moments inIn Sound Mindas well, including a few first-person shooter segments. The guns in the game won’t be effective against all the monsters, as beings like The Shade prove. SinceAmnesiais getting a sequeland many other horror games are already out or around the corner,In Sound Mindreally does need to stand out next year.
In Sound Minddoes feature spooky mannequin at one point that, without spoiling anything, somehow stands apart from others in games. Plus, not only does each tape segment have a different objective and mechanics to learn, but each one also has its own unique musical score. These scores were composed alongside the game as it was being made to fit it perfectly. There are not many horror games that can boast an amazing soundtrack on its own, butIn Sound Mindmay prove the exception. It’s just one of several reasons whythe Xbox Series X will probably be a great platform for horror titles.
