AHogwarts Legacyplayer online has pointed out a moment with the Graphorn mount that could potentially hint toward aHow To Train Your Dragonreference. Thebeasts inHogwarts Legacyare one of the more interesting parts of the game, but it seems there are still some secrets left to uncover.
SinceHogwarts Legacywas first released earlier this year, players have continued to find brand-new secrets within the game and have not been shy about sharing them. They’ve even found plenty of other references, although many of them seem to be directly linked toHarry Potter. One player even noticed that oneHogwarts Legacyoutfit seems to be a sneaky Ron Weasley referenceto one of the funniest moments from the movies. However, it seems that Avalanche Software wanted to pay tribute outside of theHarry Potterseries, too.

Redditor MuhammadrizoDev pointed out the huge similarities, comparing the music when players unlock theGraphorn mount inHogwarts Legacyto the song “Test Drive” from theHow To Train Your Dragonoriginal soundtrack. Famously, “Test Drive” plays when Hiccup and Toothless take flight together for the first time, becoming an iconic moment in the movie. The user even provides a link to listen to “Test Drive,” and the similarities are undeniable. Considering how loved this moment is among fans of the film, it’s no surprise that players have picked up on it being referenced inHogwarts Legacy.
Before unlocking the Graphorn, players must defeat it in combat, kneeling before it, and taming it. If the similarities toHow To Train Your Dragonare intentional, it’s a great thematic reference to the idea of humans earning the trust of an animal before starting up a friendship. One player even claimed the music was so awesome that they spent the entire fight distracted, unable to focus once they realized whatHogwarts Legacywas referencing.
WhileHogwarts Legacyhas plenty of different Beasts for players to catch, it doesn’t quite have so many mounts to be able to traverse the school grounds on. Gamers will be hoping that any potential DLC forHogwarts Legacywill offer new mounts to use in-game, and if not, then it’s potentially something that a sequel should explore. Fans are already speculating about whatBeasts they’d love to see in aHogwarts Legacysequel, and mounts are the next natural step beyond that. Only time will tell what Avalanche Software and Portkey Games have in store for players over the coming years.
Hogwarts Legacyis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with a Switch version releasing November 14.
