There are a lot of new characters inHades 2that Melinoë can run across in her journeys both below and above ground. One of them doesn’t have a model yet in the Early Access version of the game, but judging by the character it represents, their final game model willsurely be one of the best.
Encountered in Oceanus, none other than Narcissus stares into nearby waters at himself, with little care forthe various gifts others have offeredhim over the years. Melinoë can take some of these leftovers for herself – and the best Narcissus rewards inHades 2can seriously help finish a run.
BecauseHades 2is only available in Early Access, this list of all Narcissus gifts inHades 2may be incomplete, and will likely expand over time. This guide to the bestHades 2Narcissus gifts will be updated to reflect patches and balance changes as the game approaches its 1.0 version.
Precious Metals
Precious Metals is the worst Narcissus gift because it offers a material that’s very easy to acquire on your own and a pretty small amount of Gold. To be precise, this gift grants 6x Silver and 100 Gold – far from an exorbitant amount ora game-changing reward.
Pick Precious Metals if you really need Silver for an Incantation or Crossroads unlockable, or if you really need Gold for the Charon room at the end of each floor. But don’t pick this under most circumstances.
Mystic Secrets
Mystic Secrets is not necessarily bad, butit’s not as greatas some of Narcissus' other offerings. If you select this, Melinoë’s max Magick will increase by 30 and she will receive 10x Psyche.
The max Magick is nice, but there are a lot of ways to recover Magick. Narcissus' ability to increase your Life is much more useful because of the lack of ways to restore HP inHades 2. But if you are deep in a Magick-oriented build and need to squeeze a few more uses out of your bar, Mystic Secrets is…fine.
Verdure Sampler
The Verdure Sampler offers the player 2x Moly, 3x Nightshade, and a random Pom of Power upgrade to a boon. You won’t be able to choose which boon gains a level with this version of the Pom. Of course, the Moly and Nightshade can be used for Incantations, but you can also sell them for a decent chunk of Bones.
If you encounter Narcissus without many boons – andif those boons are good– it’s worth picking the Verdure Sampler. There are fewer boons to choose from, so it’s more likely one that you are reliant on will get upgraded. If you have a lot of boons, it’s better to choose the Life-increasing gifts or Mixed Blessings instead.
Ancestral Offering & Heartfelt Condolences
Both Ancestral Offering and Heartfelt Condolences are among the best Narcissus choicesHades 2players have.
If you are offered both, take Heartfelt Condolences because of the higher Max Life gain – more than a normal Life-increasing item, no less. But even if you are just offered Ancestral Offering, 25 extra Life is nothing to sneeze at, though Mixed Blessings is still worth taking over this.
Mixed Blessings
The Mixed Blessings reward is the best Narcissus gift because it can actually affect your run – a free boon is a free boon, after all, even if it is randomized. Mixed Blessings gives you a boon-in-a-sack (like the ones you can get from Charon for 125 Gold), and a Mystery Seed.
The Mystery Seed can grow into anything you may plant back at the Crossroads. Butthe real benefit here is the boon. All of Narcissus' other gifts are Life or Magick bonuses, or other material rewards to use outside of a run. But Mixed Blessings is the only one that gives you the chance to improve your build and increase your chances of succeeding, and is worth picking up over other options any time it pops up.
