The previous episode ofGundam: The Witch From Mercuryoffered numerous interesting and wholesome moments from start to finish. Who knows the story about a couple of students trying to create a start-up can be so entertaining to see. Not to mention it also ends withanother act of sabotage from the higher upsthat could jeopardize the business plan that they have carefully crafted. That’s a good cliffhanger right there.

However, as we’ve established in the review for the previous episode, when the story focuses more on the drama, thenthe role of main character seems to be given to Miorine. Suletta is pretty much useless during these kinds of moments. That’s been the case for quite some time now, so let’s hope we can see Suletta back in action in this episode.

If I Could Take One More Step Toward You

Shaddiq Zenelli is the adoptive son of the CEO of the Grassley Defense System and the head of the Student Committee at the Asticassia School of Technology. But unlike his father, Shaddiq sees value in the Gundam, and he thinks such advanced technology is wasted on Miorine and her new company, Gund-Arm Inc. Sohe offers to buy up the company from Miorine, but she refuses. So he adds a new rule to the student’s rule book that makes it practically impossible for Miorine to register her company.

Despite Miorine’s complaints, Shaddiq refuse to change the rules back. On the contrary, he once again offered to acquire the Gund-Arm Inc. with much more favorable terms to Miorine. However, Miorine challenge Shaddiq to a duel instead, with the future of her company on the line. He reluctantly agrees, but he proposes it to be a team duel instead of the usual one vs one, with each team consisting of six mobile suits.

Although it takes quite some time, Miorine manage to find the other five mobile suits for the duel. When the duel begins, Shaddiq’s team, withtheir superior teamwork and mobile suits, easily subdue every enemy mobile suits, except Aerial. However, once they deploy the anti Gund-Arm barrier, Aerial is practically incapacitated. Thankfully, Suletta managed to not only wake Aerial up, but she began to slaughter the enemy’s mobile suit one by one. And thanks to the long-range shooting done by her fallen teammates, Suletta and her team win the duel. Which mean the Gund-Arm Inc. finally open for business.

An Epic Team Battle

Gundam: The Witch From Mercuryhas showcased several exciting mobile suit fights thus far.Her recent fight against Elan and his Gundam Pharactis certainly one of the best and most memorable ones. However, this episode is the first time we see a battle involving multiple mobile suits. And it is also the first time Aerial has to fight several enemies at the same time.

As a result, the battle feels much more fluid and dynamic. After all, so many cool things are happening at the same time. When we are focused on Saddiq’s surprise attack on one of Suletta’s teammates, the other two mobile suits attack Aerial simultaneouslyfrom different angles. There are simply so much fast-paced destruction happening at the same time.

Furthermore, the tension of the fight is also beautifully crafted to showcase a gripping drama. It manages to convey how prepared and powerful Shaddiq and his teammates truly are. And just when everything seems to reach its climax with Aerial’s public execution, the white demon rises from the dead and begins its one-sided slaughter fest. What a thrilling and epic battle!

Aerial’s Secret

One of the most important episodes inGundam: The Witch From Mercuryis the previous Elan Ceres story arcs. After all, that wasthe arc that reveal the dark side of the world in this series, such as the insidious concept of human experimentation, human cloning, and the length that the companies willing to go through in order to gain a profit.

Not only that, we also get some valuable revelations regarding Suletta and Aerial. One of them is in the form of the shadowy figures that Suletta sees during her fight with Elan, and the other is about the fact that it has been 21 years sincethe event that happened in the Prologue. Which is quite strange when you think about it. After all, if Suletta Mercury is indeed the little girl, Ericht Samaya, that appears in the prologue, she should be 25 years old now, not 17 years old as mentioned at the beginning of the story.

This discrepancy, along with the fact that Suletta acts like she is genuinely talking to Aerial in this episode, gives rise to numerous fan theories regarding the truth of Aerial and Suletta. One of the wildest ones being Ericht and Suletta are actually two different people, and Ericht’s consciousness is now part of Aerial, which is why Suletta can freely control it, and even consider it as her “family”. It’s a pretty wild theory, but it’s not entirely impossible. One thing for sure, there is more to Aerial than meets the eye.

This episode offers a nice balance between an interesting corporate drama, and thrilling Mobile Suit fights. Miorine’s effort to deal with all sorts of sabotaging attempts andSuletta’s ruthless approach to a mecha fightis so exhilarating to see. However, it’s clear that there are still tons of secrets within the story, particularly regarding Aerial. Several clues have been dropped here and there, but it’s unclear whether they are important pieces of the puzzle or simply red herrings.
