God of War Ragnarokis easily one of the most anticipated games of 2022, yet it’s still without a solid release date. There were some fans who tuned in to the latest PlayStation State of Play event hoping to learn of War Ragnarok, but since the State of Play was focused on third-party games and VR,God of Warwas nowhere to be seen. However, recent rumors suggest those waiting for a new trailer or release date forGod of War Ragnarokmay be in luck, as the game is rumored to be appearing at the upcoming Summer Game Fest event.
Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest eventwill take place on Thursday, June 9 at 11am PT. While there will be some world premieres and big reveals, Keighley has clarified that the Summer Game Fest announcements will mainly deal with previously announced games.God of War Ragnarokwould certainly fit the bill, though it should be stressed that the game has not actually been confirmed for a Summer Game Fest appearance at the time of this writing, so fans should keep their expectations in check.

The rumor stems from leaker Millie A on Twitter, who has accurately leaked industry news in the past. Millie A’s tweet is simply tagging Summer Game Fest with an axe emoji and aGrey’s Anatomygif that says, “We’re overdue for a date.” Fans have taken this to mean that Millie A is teasing aGod of War Ragnarokrelease datereveal for Summer Game Fest, but it’s possible that they’re looking too much into it.
For those who may be unfamiliar with the latestGod of Wargames, the reason why the axe emoji has led fans to believe Millie is teasing aGod of War Ragnarokrelease date reveal for Summer Game Fest is because Kratos' main weapon in the 2018 game was theLeviathan Axe. Luckily, with Summer Game Fest merely a day away at this point, fans don’t have to wait much longer to see if there was any signifiance to the axe in Millie A’s tweet.
This isn’t the only recent development that pertains to theGod of War Ragnarokrelease date. TheGod of War Ragnarokplaceholder release date was recently moved from September 30 to December 31, indicating thatRagnarokmay have been pegged for a Q3 release, but has since been moved back to Q4. Again, it’s possible fans are reading too much into it, but hopefully more information comes sooner rather than later.
IfGod of War Ragnarokis a no-show at Summer Game Fest, one has to imagine that it will appear at therumored State of Play for September, but that’s just speculation at this time.
God of War Ragnarokis in development for PS4 and PS5.
