The concept is simple:giant Kaiju monstersfighting each other in a city’s downtown. Take that idea and give it a 4-player party game twist, and that’s the gist ofGigaBash, the debut release from Malaysian indie studio Passion Republic Games.

Whether it’s couch co-op,online matchmaking, or a surprisingly endearing story mode, there’s something for everyone in this deceptively complex brawler. Players choose one of 10 playable Kaiju - each with their own unique moveset and special abilities - and go to work either taking out enemy players or taking out the very city around them. Not all Kaiju are created equal though. Here are all the monsters inGigaBash,ranked from worst to best.
10Pipijuras
The whole point of a party game is to embrace a “pick-up-and-play” style of control. Anyone, no matter how familiar they are with the game, should be able to jump in and have a good time. For the most part,GigaBashdoes a great job of this. The one place where it doesn’t is with Pipijuras.
Pipijuras is a long-range Kaiju. He’s slow and struggles to survive when an enemy gets in close, and therefore must use hisranged abilitiesto keep other monsters at a distance. For an experienced player, this is doable. For someone just jumping into the game for a quick session, Pipijuras is too technical to get a handle on right away.
9Skorak
This giant snail is still the smallest of the available Kaiju, and as such needs to win with brains over brawn. Boasting an array of ranged and close-quarters abilities, Skorak is a versatile and flexible choice of monster.

What ranks them so low is that Skorak doesn’t do the most damage nor does he have the best defense or health pool. As such, he is most viable for players who have a good handle on the snail’s abilities and their various uses. To a new player, Skorak will be a challenging monster to use out of the gate.
8Rohanna
Another very technical monster, although much more user-friendly, Rohanna is a summoner who does as much damage with her own attacks as she does while hanging back and letting their minions do the work.
Her movement is a bit odd, as Rohanna almost dances around the battlefield, and it can take some getting used to. However, her ability to relocate at a moment’s notice to get out of trouble isextremely beginner-friendlybut can be used to devastating effect by experienced players.
7Gigaman
Essentially just a giant Power Ranger,Gigaman is the closest thing to a playable human inGigaBash.While he may have the least exciting design, he makes up for it with blazing speed and laser beams.
Playing well with Gigaman is all about stringing together combos. A single punch from this “Kaiju” won’t do much on its own, but when players start stringing his attacks together, Gigaman can launch enemies into the air, blast them with a laser, then jump up to meet them and then slam them back down to Earth. He’s incredibly satisfying to get a handle on, but agile enough to be effective for a new player learning the ropes.
6Wooley
One of theGigaBashKaiju that’s sure to become an iconic design, Wooley is easily the most adorable monster in the game. He’s essentially a giant version ofSuper Smash Bros.Kirby, able to inhale his opponents, roll around the battlefield, or hurl projectiles from a distance.
Wooley’s biggest weakness is that he’s small, which means he’s easy to knock around. That is easily offset by the speed at which he can jump (or roll) into and out of fights. He’s one of the most mobile characters in the game, and his ultimate ability - which summons an avalanche - is devastating.
5Gorogong
There’s not much nuance to Gorogong, he plays exactly how he looks. His two big, glowing fists are his main weapons, and he’ll gladly fly across the map and pummel his enemies with them. He’s quick, he hits hard, and he’s very combo-friendly.

Gorogong’s greatest asset is that many of his attacks don’t just damage their target, but do AoE damage as well. Depending on how many enemy Kaiju are nearby, Gorogong’s bigger attacks will damage all of them. His ultimate ability takes that concept and increases the range, bouncing around any monster that happens to be even remotely close by.
4Kongkrete
The most inspired monster design in the whole game,Kongkrete is an office buildingcome to life. All of its attacks and abilities are in line with what players would expect a building to be capable of. It bounces around and lands on top of enemies, it falls forward onto enemies, and when it transforms into an S-Class monster, it becomes a massive skyscraper that crushes its enemies.
The added nuance to Kongkrete’s design is that is can sneak its way into a group of actual office buildings and cause other players to lose track of it. It’s also just goofy. Some of the most fun to be had inGigaBash iswhen someone playing Kongkrete goes on a rampage.
3Thundatross
If Gigaman is the equivalent of a Power Ranger, then Thundatross isthe equivalent of Voltron.A massive robot with an equally massive sword, this towering mech is one of the biggest, rangiest monsters in the whole game.
What he lacks in foot speed he makes up for in nearly unbelievable range. Thundatross' sword swing can reach way further than players will expect. Transform him into an S-Class and that range gets even more ridiculous. He also does a ton of damage, meaning most enemies are better off just staying out of his way. Easier said than done.
2Zyva
The last unlockable character inGigaBash, Zyva is also the largest monster in the game. A massive crystalline beast, Zyva has an ability suited for everything. It has projectiles, it has aerial projectiles, it has crazy range on its basic attacks, and it has gravity powers to boot.
While it may be slow, Zyva can make up for that in so many ways it’s barely even a negative. It can take a bit to get used to the wild array of abilities at this creature’s disposal, but once Zyva gets on a roll, there aren’t manyKaiju that can stop it.
1Rawa
The ultimate fantasy in any Kaiju game for most players isto play as Godzilla.He’s the quintessential Kaiju, and he’s iconic for a reason. InGigaBash, the closest players can get to that fantasy is to play as Rawa, known in the game world as the “Extinction Dragon.”
Rawa is most likely a tad overpowered, even for a game that’s all about being overpowered. He has a charge ability that is absolutely devastating and can demolish right through a chain of buildings without a second thought. If that fails, he has his Extinction Beam, a cone of blue flame that deals an absurd amount of damage to anything that gets caught in its path. This is all without mentioning his ultimate ability, Decimate: Supernova, which looks exactly how it sounds: a giant orb of damage that expands outward from Rawa’s position. He is the ultimate Kaiju, and easily the most powerful monster in the game.
