SomeGenshin Impactplayers want the development team to increase the artifact cap in the game. There are many different ways for players to increase theirstats inGenshin Impact, as it features a robust character progression system with several layers of mechanics.
In addition to their weapon,Genshin Impactplayers can equip five artifactson a single character, and they too can be further enhanced to improve the stat buffs. These artifacts also belong to different sets, with each set giving users unique bonuses if they have two or four pieces equipped at the same time. Users will collect hundreds of these artifacts over the course of their playthroughs, but there is a limit to the total number they can hold, and it looks like some players want the developers to increase this maximum capacity.

A Reddit user named XLNC07 has shared a few images fromGenshin Impactthat help in better explaining their argument. They state thatcharacters inGenshin Impactcan only equip one weapon and up to five artifacts, but players can hold a maximum of 1,500 artifacts and 2,000 weapons. XLNC07 wonders why the inventory limit for these items is at odds with the number of items players can equip, but there appears to be a reasonable explanation for this system.
One user states that the larger inventory capacity for weapons is tied to the gacha mechanics ofGenshin Impact, as players will obtain several weapons while trying to pull for their desired character. According to the same fan, weapons having a high limit means that usersspending a lot of money onGenshin Impactwould not have to manage their inventory during the process. It seems that many players agree with this analysis, as several users in the comments section give the same reason for the weapon inventory limit being higher.
On the other hand, one fan offers a different explanation, stating that it may be related to data storage inGenshin Impact. As weapons have the same stats, it means that there is less data for the game to track, as opposed to each artifact having multiple stats with different benefits and bonuses, requiring them to be tracked individually. Overall, it looks like there are a couple of different reasons for this capacity limit inGenshin Impact, and it’ll be interesting to see if the development team ever decides to increase the number of artifact players can hold in the future.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Mobile. A Switch version is in development.
