Player Mistakes
Back to All Characters
Candace inGenshin Impactcan be described as “released too early”. This is because, as of now, there’s not much she can do, and even though she has her uses, other supports can easily outperform the things she offers.

When it comes to the guardian of Aaru Village, mistakes players can make would include things like using the wrong stat and equipment, or focusing on the wrong aspects of her kit. Here are some examples of the mistakes players can make while playing Candace inGenshin Impact.
Not Stacking HP
Candace is most valuable when players stack as much HP as possible with her. From her fourth ascension passive, Candace grants 0.5% Normal Attack DMG for every 1000 points of her HP. By using triple HP artifacts and HP-boosting equipment, people can easily get 40000 HP on their Candace. This would mean a 20% Normal Attack DMG bonus.
For comparison, Gladiator’s Finale grants 35% Normal Attack DMG Bonus, Retracing Bolide 40%, and Heart of Depths 30%. This means Candace effortlessly grants half of a 4pc artifact’s effect.
Not Utilizing Hydro Resonance
Since Candace benefits a lot from HP, people can bump it up higher by utilizing Hydro Resonance. Many units can enjoy the benefit of this effect, where the party will gain an extra 25% HP if two or more Hydro units are present on the team. Examples of those who’ll benefit from this buff include:

Among them,Genshin ImpactKamisato Ayatois likely the best option to pair with Candace. Since the head of the Kamisato clan focuses on Normal Attack DMG, Candace can easily buff him with her fourth ascension effect. Additionally, Ayato also deals extra damage via HP stat, one that Hydro Resonance will enhance.
Using ATK For Sub-DPS Candace
A Sub-DPS Candace will deal damage via her Skill and Burst only. Usually, ATK is used even for aSub-DPS inGenshin Impact, for example, Xingqiu and Xiangling. Meanwhile, some other units are more unique, where they don’t need ATK on their abilities, like Candace and Yelan.
Both Candace and Yelan use HP to determine the damage of their Skill and Burst. This means players should only use ATK if they want Candace to play as themain DPS inGenshin Impact. Other than HP, though, people can also opt for Energy Recharge Timepiece if their Candace is unable to keep her Elemental Burst available endlessly.
Underestimating Some Weapons
Stacking HP for Candace can be done by more than granting her certain artifacts. People can also use weapons that enhance her life points. For example, the 3-starGenshin ImpactweaponBlack Tassel can be great as it boosts her HP by around 47%. Those who own Zhongli can also use this Polearm to further strengthen the strengths of his unbreakable shield.
Other than that, people can also opt for other Polearms like Staff of Homa, or those with Energy Recharge Sub-stat like Favonius Lance and Engulfing Lightning. Finally, Travelers can also use Moonpiercer to buff the team’s main DPS, if there’s a Dendro unit in the party.
Missing Out On Some Artifacts
It’s frequently emphasized that Candace needs HP, so this may lead to people pairing her with 2pc Tenacity of the Millelith for that extra 20% health point. While this isn’t a bad move, the best artifact people can use on Candace would actually be 4pc Noblesse Oblige. This will lead to a lower Normal Attack DMG buff, yes, but the 20% extra ATK for the whole team can easily outperform the 20% personal HP boost.
This case is similar to Shenhe and Yun Jin that support the team better with 4pc Noblesse Oblige rather than stacking their own ATK and DEF through other artifact sets.
Not Getting Candace’s Constellation
Candace is somewhat locked to her Constellations when it comes to her viability. Those who wish to use her as a Normal Attack buffer should own at least her first and second Constellation, people who want her as a main DPS should have at least C1 Candace, while Travelers who want the Hydro unit as a Sub-DPS would need to wait until she unlocks all of herGenshin ImpactConstellations.

Candace’s C1 increases the duration of her Elemental Burst. This means longer Hydro infusion and Normal Attack buff, which is why it’s important for a main DPS and support Candace. Meanwhile, her C2 increases her own HP, which means better buffing. Finally, Candace as a Sub-DPS is only viable at C6, where she’ll release waves of Hydro every 2.3s when a teammate deals Elemental damage on their Normal Attack.
Focusing Too Much On Her Hydro Infusion
Candace has this fun feature where her Elemental Burst grants Hydro Infusion to any team member that wields Sword, Polearm, or Claymore. Unfortunately, as ofGenshin Impact3.1, no character can fully benefit from it.
Foremost, theGenshin ImpactHydro userthat can get this infusion is only Candace, Xingqiu, and Kamisato Ayato. Other owners of Hydro Vision are either Catalyst or Bow users. Second, Xingqiu doesn’t need this effect, while Ayato already infuses his own Sword when he casts his Elemental Skill. Finally, Candace can use it herself to make her the carry, but this won’t do well in the long run since her DPS count won’t get to outperform5-star units inGenshin Impact. Additionally, players should avoid pairing Candace with characters like Eula and Razor since her Hydro Infusion will hurt them more than help them.
Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
