He has his own style of filmmaking, and Bleszinski feels that the director’s typical approach might be well suited to what they are looking for in the upcomingGears of Warproject.

During an interview withComicBook, Bleszinski opened up about what he thought of Snyder taking charge of the Netflix movie adaptation. Although he didn’t shy away from saying that hedidn’t likeArmy of the Dead, Bleszinski indicated that he would want Snyder to direct the film adaptation. According to Bleszinski, Snyder has proven himself when working with an established IP.
To be frank, I think Zack Snyder is an amazing director when he is working with existing IP. I think when he did, I think it was theDawn of the Deadremake, some of his superhero movies, when he did300. As an adaptation,300defined a whole genre of [filmmaking], the slow-mo and the fast pans. But his fans are rabid as hell and the thing is, I think he’d be a great fit for it.
Apart from talking aboutSynder directing theGears of Warmovie, Bleszinski also addressed the possibility of Dave Bautista playing the role of Marcus Fenix in the big-screen adaptation. “I used to say back in the day, that I didn’t want a big wrestler to play Marcus Fenix, and then I had the epiphany of years back, wrestlers are not only athletes, they’re actors. We had that epiphany in the eighties," Bleszinski said. “Dave Bautista man, the dude dressed up in Gears armor online. He’s proven his range from the lastBlade Runnermovie through to him playing Drax The Destroyer and all that. I think he’d be perfect for it. He’s got the body type.”
It will be interesting to see how Snyder will tackleGears of Warif the project is handed over to him. As of now, Snyder and Bautista are not attached to the project. However,Netflix’sGears of Warmoviehas secured Jon Spaihts, known forDuneandDoctor Strange, as the screenwriter.
Although no release date has been announced, it’s confirmed that a live-action film adaptation ofGears of Waris actively in development for the streaming platform.
