A retro game collector made an incredible find at a yard sale recently, paying a mere $40 for a decent selection ofNintendo 64games and hardware. Retro game collecting was once a fairly cheap hobby, but things have changed dramatically in recent years. TheNintendo 64and its library of games have not been immune to this phenomenon, with prices increasing at local game shops and online marketplaces.
Garage and yard salesare two of the only places where it’s still possible to find genuinely good deals on retro games. Resellers and game collectors alike prowl yard sales for the best retro gaming deals, and sometimes they’re rewarded for their efforts with practical goldmines. One recent video by FireSpin_Gaming amassed over 100,000 views, depicting an incredible yard sale find where they got a great deal on a bundle of Nintendo 64 games and hardware. The haul included multipleNintendo 64 controllersof various colors and a tote of games. The condition of the games varied, but some of the titles spotted in the video included some of the Nintendo 64’s absolute best titles, like the originalSuper Smash Bros.,Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2,Pokemon Stadium,Super Mario 64,Donkey Kong 64,GoldenEye 007,NFL Blitz, and others. For all this, FireSpin_Gaming only paid $40.
As can be heard in the video, FireSpin_Gaming was in disbelief that all these games hadn’t been picked up yet. After all, theoriginalSuper Smash Bros.goes anywhere from $20 to $60 on sites like eBay, so getting it and a bunch of other games for just $40 is a steal, to say the least.
Collecting all the Nintendo 64 cartridgesof these games could be an expensive endeavor for anyone that isn’t lucky enough to happen upon a great yard sale find like seen in the video. On the bright side, there are relatively cheap ways to still play some of these games on modern hardware. The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription features a nice selection of Nintendo 64 games with more on the way this year, includingGoldenEye 007and bothPokemon Stadiumgames.
There are many Nintendo 64 games that fans would still love to seejoin the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack lineup, though it’s unclear just how many titles Nintendo plans on adding to the service before slowing down for support. For now, gamers could be kept plenty busy by the games that are currently part of the lineup.
