FortniteChapter 2 Season 2 is all about secret agents, and it asks players to make a choice between itsGhost and Shadow factions. Thus far, this decision has been primarily a cosmetic concern, but Epic Games has hinted that this will not be the case for the entirety of the season. While the developer has not yet shared specific details on what it plans to do with these factions over time, a new leak suggests that a war between the two sides may indeed be on the way.

As recently shared on Twitter, data miner FireMonkey has reportedly located the description for an upcomingFortnitefaction war LTM, which will have players selecting between Ghost and Shadow and doing battle to increase their “faction intel levels.” It is said that the rewards that a player will receive from this event will be contingent upon how high their faction level is, and fans will be able to view their current faction level and rewards through an in-game PC.

FireMonkey suggests that this is not all that the in-game PC will do, though, claiming that players will be able to use it to freely switch their faction. Presumably, switching between Ghost and Shadow in theFortnitefaction war LTM would reset a player’s faction level, requiring them to once again grind for rewards. However, this should be considered purely speculative untilEpic Gamesoffers official word on that matter.

To note, this is not the only unannounced LTM that FireMonkey has discovered since the start of Season 2. Just last week, they found references to anInfected LTMin the game files, which will seemingly play similarly to the Infected game modes found in popular franchises likeCall of DutyandHalo. While this does not have an obvious thematic connection toFortnite’s current season, in the way that a faction war does, it is still something that many players would have a lot of fun with.

With respect to when these two LTMs may be available inFortnite, that is not currently known. However, there is indication thatFortniteChapter 2 Season 2will end around April 30, which means that players are likely to find themselves fending off Infected and engaging in faction war before that date has arrived.

Fortniteis available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and mobile devices.
