For the last few months, the theme ofFortniteChapter 5: Season 1has been based on espionage. Jonesy and Hope have been working underground to fight against The Society, a shady group with several bases of operations spread across the island. One of the season’s main gimmicks is infiltrating these bases and fighting the bosses, gaining their unique weapons as well as medallions with their own perks. In addition, there is a train running around the island that players can leap onto and loot items from. Overall, infiltration and heisting are the name of the game in Chapter 5: Season 1.
Heisting Has Been a Common Trend in Recent Fortnite Seasons
While the gimmick is undoubtedly cool, it’s not exactly something new.FortniteChapter 4: Season 4, which was the last proper season before the current one, had a heist theme that hit many of the same tropes that Chapter 5: Season 1 does. Not only that, but the Most Wanted event at the end of Chapter 4: Season 1 was also heist-themed. While the current season is not specifically about heists, the main gimmick has far too many similarities to ignore. As a result,Fortnite’s Battle Royale is still using many of the same ideas and similar themes despite the new season starting.
Fortnite’s Next Season Needs Something New
Having three seasons in a row with the same gimmick would not be particularly flattering, andFortnite’s plans for the futureshould keep that in mind. It’s about time for a new season to shake up the formula once again, and that entails a brand-new theme.
