Fortniteis rolling out a fresh batch of quests today, offering players a new set of tasks to complete to earn XP andquickly level up their Chapter 3 Season 3 Battle Pass. One of these new quests requires players to obtain ranged weapon of Epic (purple) rarity or higher, and get at least two eliminations with them.
Chapter 3 Season 3 ofFortniteis now well underway, with the new season officially three weeks in, sporting a bit of a summer festival vibe. The Epic Games battle royale title’snew “Vibin'” season introduces several hidden mechanicsto the game; one of which players can specifically utilize to complete this quest in particular.

How to Get Ranged Weapons of Epic Rarity or Better for Season 3 Quest
For thisFortnitequest, there are a few different methods players can use to go about completing it, but the most surefire one is touse Reality Seeds and Reality Saplings.
One of the aforementioned hidden mechanics, players will need to head to the new Reality Falls POI, where they can find and plant a Reality Seed to germinate into a sapling.
Starting at Common, players can weed the sapling after harvesting to upgrade it to the next tier, although the process may take more than a single match.
Fortniteplayers can expedite the fruit regeneration process by using Chug Splashes or Shield Kegs on Reality Saplings as well. Repeat the harvesting and weeding process until Epic level rarity has been reached.
There are apparently only a fewweapons considered inFortnite’s ranged category this season; the new DMR and the Boom and Heavy Sniper Rifle, making the sapling fruit all the more crucial.
An especially potent technique is harvesting at Epic rarity, then weeding to immediately upgrade to Legendary. This effectively doubles the level of harvestable fruit and therefore doubles the chance of a qualifying ranged weapon.
While the Reality Sapling strategy is the most guaranteed way to obtain an Epic or higher ranged weapon, it isn’t the only way. Players can also try heading to any of the island’s named locations to find a ranged weapon through regular means, as Reality Falls will be a hotbed of activity.
Rare (blue) DMRs and/or Heavy Sniper Rifles spawn fairly often, with Upgrade Benches usually somewhere within a POI. Those short on Gold Bars can utilize one ofFortniteChapter 3 Season 3’s many Bounty Board locations, which reward players with 75 for each successful bounty.
OnceFortniteplayers have obtained their Epic or better ranged weapon, and have used it to successfully eliminate two other players, the quest will be complete.
