Ubisoft recently confirmed that it has five triple-A games that will launch between April 2020 and March 2021. Ubisoft confirmed that three of the games areWatch Dogs Legion,Gods and Monsters, andRainbow Six Quarantine, but stopped short of confirming the other two games beyond stating that they were a part of its “biggest franchises.” While Ubisoft didn’t spill the beans on these games, it seems that they are the long-rumorednewAssassin’s Creedgameas well asFar Cry 6.
This report comes from Jason Schreier of Kotaku. Schreier is known to be one of the most reliable sources in the video game industry, so his claim holds a lot more weight than most. Schreier didn’t elaborate on the newFar Cry, but just said that it’s one of the games Ubisoft plans to launch between now and March 2021.

If Schreier is accurate, then this means that fans can likely look forward toFar Cry 6being announced atE3 2020during Ubisoft’s press conference. It also means that the newAssassin’s Creedgame will likely be unveiled by then as well, though that’s been expected for quite some time.
It should be noted that this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard of a newFar Crygame being in development. Prior to this, there were rumors of amultiplayer-centricFar Crygamethat was supposedly in development at Ubisoft Berlin. It’s possible that Schreier is referring to that game if he’s not talking aboutFar Cry 6.
As far asFar Cry 6goes, other sources have reported that it is being developed by two differentUbisoftstudios. Apparently,Far Cry 6is in the works at Ubisoft Toronto and Ubisoft Refelctions, though this has yet to be confirmed. There’s nothing official onFar Cry 6in any capacity, so fans should take any information about the game with a grain of salt until Ubisoft decides to announce it.
WhenFar Cry 6is announced, it will be interesting to see what form it will take. TheFar Cryfranchise has always stuck closely toUbisoft’s open world formula, but the company has expressed interest in moving away from with its future releases. It’s possible that there wasn’t time to switch things up forFar Cry 6, but that’s just speculation at this time. Fans will have to wait for an official reveal to learn more about the game.
Far Cry 6is rumored to be in development for unspecified platforms.
