Summary

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice Leagueis finally in the spot to deliver on its promises of constant post-launch content updates. The game’s first season will include a great deal of new stuff for players to get their hands on, but time will tell ifSuicide Squad: Kill the Justice League’s ill fortunes can be reversed.

Rocksteady announced prior to the title’s launch thatSuicide Squad’s live-service elements would involve Elseworlds. These alternate dimensions are indeed taking center stage with much of the first season’s content, including its new character—one which relies on the game’s narrative breaking from the Arkhamverse. As well as this, a host of new cosmetic apparel will be joining through the season’s battle pass and its two new episodes.

The Joker

The headliner for this first season, coming toSuicide Squadon March 28, is naturally the Joker as a playable character. Since the Arkhamverse version of the character is already dead, this iteration of the character is from an alternate dimension—one where the clown prince of crime is a tad closer to his silver-age depiction. Flying around on a rocket-powered umbrella like a maniacal Mary Poppins, the Joker will sport three different build paths in the fight against one of the other twelve Brainiacs threatening the multiverse.

Suicide Squad’s new Joker drew heavy criticismwhen he was first shown off, due not only to the oversaturation of multiverse stories but the specifics of his design and voice. In general, this version of the iconic character started off on the wrong foot. However, he won’t be alone in this big content update. Incursion and stronghold events will be there to keep players busy as they explore the Mayhem map—a funhouse version of Metropolis within which fans will have to rescue and recruit the clown.

New Weapons

The season will be divided into two episodes, with the first releasing March 28. This episode, named ‘Fear’, will bring a batch ofnew weapons toSuicide Squad. Players will be able to access Scarecrow’s Infamy Set, a loadout spread across three tiers and themed around the villain’s infamous mind-warping fear toxin. In addition, players will be able to access new Notorious gear, which are also inspired by DC villains. Based on Dr. Poison and the Mad Hatter, these high-level weapons will be available through open-world activities and Incursion missions. These weapons will definitely help players make a dent in the new enemies and bosses coming this season.

In addition, the second episode — which will release inSuicide Squadmid-season— also has its own arsenal of Infamy Sets and Notorious weaponry. Episode 2 will be called ‘Duality’, a name that well fits the available apparel; this time, the Infamy Set will be based on Two-Face. Alongside Harvey Dent’s loadout, Black Manta and Reverse-Flash will be getting Notorious gear themed around them. This splitting of seasonal content is slightly different to the typical events seen in other live-services.

New Foes

Episode 1 will involve a new version of Braniac with a unique powerset. Where players would have previously fought a version of Braniac with the Flash’s moves, here the android will take on the abilities of Green Lantern. Then episode 2 will do much the same, but with Braniac taking on Superman’s powers instead. In addition, new ‘infused’ enemy types will be thrown at the player—something that could help solve the game’s lacking enemy variety, one of the big thingsholdingSuicide Squadback.
