Scarlet and Violet’s Region and Gameplay Information
When it comes to the region and characters, fans have learned about the academic side of this new journey, as well as the fact that three different stories will be underlying their adventure. TheGym Leaders are also revealedto have other jobs or hobbies like snowboarding in addition to their current position in the Pokemon League. However, there are still leaks about the region and gameplay that have yet to be confirmed.
To start, there are allegedly three cities and nine towns in the game. Gyms can apparently be challenged a second time, and a female Psychic-type Gym Leader may be part of the League challenge. Asfor the Elite Four, leaks indicate that they consist of a child of an unknown gender, one of the teachers from the newly introduced academies, a woman, and one of the Gym Leaders - though likely not the revealed Ice-type Gym Leader Grusha.
An image has circulated with red, orange, pink, black, and purple circles that are implied to represent the Elite Four’s types, excluding the Champion who may change based on which version is being played. As far as other characters go, Nemona, Penny, and Arven - the latter two havin been recently revealed - will play exclusive roles in Paldea’s three stories. Penny is rumored to not use new Pokemon, having apreference for the Eevee family. Professor Sada will only appear inScarletand Professor Turo will only be inViolet, but the leaks describe them as “not evil,” for whatever that’s worth.
The new region also apparently lacks fishing, Move Reminders, and a daycare, although Pokemon breeding will still be present in a yet-explained fashion involving picnics. Leaks have suggested that the Move Reminder will be replaced by a menu option like inPokemon Legends: Arceus, from which Mass Outbreaks are also rumored to be returning. Lastly, DLC and an auction system with NPCs have been leaked.

Rumored Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet
The new regional Pokedex is rumored to have over 400 monsters in it, including Rotom and Eevee, who seems to be the main subject of a “bonding” subquest. Returning to the games are Alpha Pokemon, albeit with a unique take on size differences, andoverworld Shiny Pokemon; but not all Hisuian forms fromLegends: Arceus. The only ridable Pokemon will be the mascot Legendaries, and players can only be followed by their monsters while outdoors.
In a complete shift from every generation sinceXandY, it looks likeScarletandVioletwill introduce a roster of new Pokemon comparable to the third and fourth generations. The games will bring over 120 new creatures to the table, and even more if one includes the new alternate forms, new evolutions for older Pokemon, and DLC. The starters will be themed around entertainers: Sprigatito will turn into a magician reminiscent of clowns and even gentlemen thieves, Fuecoco will be based on singers and become a quadruped, whileQuaxly will apparently evolveinto a dancing peacock. Their final forms will be Grass/Dark, Fire/Ghost, and Water/Fighting-type, respectively.
Leakers claim there are no new fossil Pokemon. Additionally, no third Legendary has been confirmed, but inspirations for rumored new Pokemon include dogs, frogs, dung beetles, flowers,a sushi-themed dragon, and even car engines or bikes. There are also rumors surrounding Pokemon based on dolphins and flamingos, two popular species have yet to be properly represented in the series.
Tauros andWooperwill get the only regional variants in the game (the later of which was revealed to be a Poison/Ground-type), while Primeape, Girafarig, Dunsparce, and Bisharp will reportedly get new evolutions. Meanwhile, Jigglypuff, Amoongus, Misdreavus, Suicune, a pseudo-legendary, and an unspecified Gen 2 Pokemon will get brand-new “Ancient Forms,” whereas Delibird, Gallade, Hariyama, as well as another unspecified Gen 2 Pokemon and pseudo-legendary will get “Future Forms.” Volcarona is indicated to have both an Ancient and Future Form.
There will also supposedly be “regional fakes,” or Convergent Pokemon as leaks call them, which resemble old Pokemon, but are not the same. UnlikeAncient and Future Forms, they can evolve, with one example being a Water-type geyser monster resembling Diglett. There are also hints at Krabby getting its own doppelganger. With some of these leaks having already been confirmed, time will tell if other things like the rumored Grass/Fire-type Pokemon will become a reality once players get to experienceScarletandViolet.
